“Comfortable Rooms and Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

I stayed here twice in two weeks. The staff is incredibly warm and helpful. There are plenty of options for food and drinks for all appetites and prices. The outside patio is fun and feels removed from the bustle of the city. The location is close to shopping, food and markets. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I would highly recommend the InterCon (so long as you are in the remodeled section)

Of note: the first week I stayed in the "upgraded" rooms. They are very comfortable, clean and updated. The second week, I was put in a room in the other section. Those rooms have not been upgraded are quite shabby. The curtains were torn and did not close. The overall room was significantly not as nice. I complained and was moved to the "upgraded" room which was very nice.

Room Tip: There are two sections of the hotel. One is very old and run down. The others are much nicer and u...

I was in Nairobi on a business trip and was glad to have selected the InterContinental. The attention to service was outstanding. Example: I arranged a car pickup from the airport, and there was a two-hour delay at customs/immigration, but the hotel representative (Kelvin) waited for me, and searched me out in the Arrivals area. Very much appreciated after a long flight into a new country! I also have to comment on the rigorous security, which made the experience feel much safer. I was on the Club level and didn't think the furniture old or outdated at all. The Indian restaurant and breakfast buffet were above expectations. The pool area was also nice, as others note - a good place in the evening to stop for a Tusker. I would return to this hotel if I go back to Nairobi on a future trip.

Room Tip: Club rooms are nice, but be aware that the church across the street rings its bell for morning servi...

it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. well it has the international name but i guess they can really do better than that.
the hotel is not bad, the rooms are spacious and clean, the service is good, the food is really good, but then the rate for standard room is 200$ which is expensive somehow for what they are offering or in a way for what they are not offering! no internet offered with the rooms which i really found unacceptable, it is 2014 guys! the smallest hotel in East Africa region is offering internet! then the TV in the room is like 20 inch from the 80's!! how did you find these tvs? i dont even find them anymore in shops!! i think if they work on some small things the rating can be 4...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014 via mobile

its my first review with such mixed feelings. Let's start from the security which is of outmost importance. Security is very good and it feels secure. Passing the security you are arriving at the lobby reception which is a big area with old but descent furniture with a nice coffee shop. Generally very good. The receptionists are excellent and professional and ready to help you.(I almost fall in love with one of them). Now going to the room was a mixture of feelings. Spacious room but VERY OLD bath with torn Toilets and black fungus on the walls. It doesn't feel clean even if it is. The bed is very uncomfortable. It's not hard but it's just old and overused and lost it's form. The wifi is just a disaster. Every 4 min it kicks you out and you need to log in again and again.(even now while I pressed to submit the review it dropped out and I lost everything so I'm rewriting.) The hotel has 3 restaurants. The indian restaurant which has an amazing food and very polite waiters. In its negative I add the fact that on the 1/Feb/14 Saturday I invited a friend over for dinner and they informed us that the restaurant will not open because it didn't have enough reservations. I find it unacceptable for a 5 start hotel to close It's restaurant especially when they advertise it so much on their website. The international cousine restaurant has good food but it takes 50 - 70 minutes to serve you the food. But the employees of the restaurant are so polite warm and friendly that it compensates.i went 3 times and all 3 times the order was late. Now the outside bar it's an amazing pool bar with an exotic ambiance and excellent employees that makes you feel like home. They also have a barbecue at night and it really worths! The cook at the bbq is also amazing. If it wasn't for the nice polite employees of the hotel I wouldn't give Average rating but poor. You don't expect an Intercontinental in such bad shape.

This is the second visit to the hotel en route to Moroni. This is one hotel that prides itself on both security and friendly, helpful staff. No criticisms at all. I had to leave very early in the morning to catch my onward flight and check out was fast efficient and I was provided with a packed breakfast as the restaurant had not yet opened. Full marks

Room Tip: Fourth floor facing the road is excellent

From Anthony at the NBO Airport IHG lounge who literally whisked us home without warning , to Jacob the superlative concierge who arranged room deliveries in the late evening and a tricky booking , to the suite look and feel , we found this Intercontinental up to the challenge and more in a city where good hotels abund. Club Level breakfast is a must with its sunrise , and nice food. Central location. This is a way underrated Intercontinental in Trip Advisor Nairobi, i wonder why , but it should definitely go up. For the record this is a maximum security property (entrance through airport-like magnetic walk-through units , all bags xrayed before entering the hotel and all cars searched...) . Highly recommended .

Room Tip: Club Level access recommended
