“Kenya Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Good property in the middle of the city; Opposite Freedom park & near Nayaya House.
Food is quite basic but rooms and facilities are quite good. Was on a business trip and enjoyed the stay and conference facilities.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing road; for a good view of city or pool view for excellent freedom park.

This hotel was our one night stop over before a safari and we had a lovely experience first class room, all the staff were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant buffet food plentiful varied and delicious,we did not eat in the Indian restaurant it looked less impressive and dark. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was great. There was security at the entrance which made us feel safe and cars were checked underneath and in the luggage area.I recommend this hotel for anyone to stay at but there is not much for very young children however the outdoor pool looked clean although we never used it.

My experience at Intercontinental Nairobi was very good. The transfer from the airport was in a luxury vehicle and our check in process was smooth. The room is spacious, with modern fittings and a range of detailed guides and booklets to indicate the hotel services and surrounding areas of interest.
My biggest critique is on the bathroom – it is very small and claustrophobic (but the bath towels are nice and big!). The bedding, towels and bathroom amenities were of a high standard and the staff members were great – friendly, eager to assist and polite.
The quality of the food at breakfast was disappointing, but the coffee was good! I ordered room service and the service was prompt and the food good. I visited a supermarket and restaurant on my last day and only then realized the exorbitant prices charged for the items in the minibar. I understand the premium charge for convenience, but I consider a mark-up of +300% as a total rip-off! The in-room internet, which I consider a necessity for business travelers, was very expensive. The onsite ATM was out of order for the 3 days of my stay and I was forced to walk into the city for an ATM.

I recommend this hotel for business travelers – the overall experience is of a high standard and the few items I were critical of do not discount the total package.

We stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions last month. Each time the room was excellent, food and service was excellent with many choices. There is security at the entrance to the parking area and the hotel which provides a somewhat safer feeling. It is a busy, busy hotel and most of the staff are helpful and qjuick to respond to needs. I have two "complaints"; one the swimming pool is heated to about 90 degrees, so if you like swimming in bath water, you'll like it; and you have to pay to use the Internet, and the gal who was manning the area was totally overwhelmed by the number of people requesting things of her. Otherwise, I highly recommend. Even with so many international travelers there was no indication of bed bugs, and we checked.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front of the hotel have a more interesting view thaln the backside.

Just got back from Kenya and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi for 3 nights. I have nothing to compare in Nairobi but I would say it is a clean, safe place to stay. The food is very good, staff very nice, pool and bar area clean and comfortable. They take security seriously, checking every entering vehicle, under the hood and under the car.

All rooms have amenities you need including hair dryers and safe. Not sure of the prices as my stay was part of a package. Not far from airport either.

Unless you are there for business this hotel may not suit you well as you have only the business district to walk around in the locality. The hotel is walkable to all the major office space . The food is good but the breakfast is not something great to mention . They have old television sets in the room which i really dont think even 3 star hotels use nowadays .The building looks old and needs some renovation .Overall it was a big surprise as the name and the hotel do not go together well .

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the 7th floor .

Lots of security at the hotel. Stayed for one night On arriving at reception, there was a friendly greeting and prompt and efficient attendance given during the check in process. The various facilities were also well explained. The room was well finished, clean and comfortable, Bed somewhat hard. Wireless and cable internet were available, but at the excessively high rate of $25 per 24hour period. The breakfasts was good with a good variety andattentive staff who were friendly and prompt with offering coffee and other assistance.
