“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We had a nine day stay at the hotel. The hotel has a taxi counter at the airport so we went straight there, and got a taxi to the hotel. The price for the taxi was in line with what other taxis charge and its safe. As we are Ambassador members we should have got an upgrade automatically but was not given when we asked we got some excuse. However, the rooms are dated but they are extremely clean and comfortable. The staff was very good and it seemed that they were genuinely interested to make our stay an enjoyable one. The hotel is very central to all places and if you want to go on any trips or safaris you just have to ask the front desk and they will arrange a tour guide to speak with you. The prices for the tours seem in line with what other tour guides are offering with the added safety aspect. The hotel shop was also reasonable and better priced than some other shops like the Spinners Web. The hotel was busy at all times and had a great atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel any day. If you are Ambassador members, make sure that you get the upgrade as reading other reviews and from past experiences in other hotels, the Intercontinental chain is very keen on getting us to become members but once we have paid for the membership, and patronize the hotels, the individual hotels are not very keen on keeping up the promises made by the Intercontinental sales people.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 7th floor, the only thing is that they have a functions hall on the 8th floor or Ro...

Dear ranjana ranjana,

Thank you for your loyalty to the InterContinental Hotels Group by being our esteemed InterContinental Ambassador.

I am very pleased to read your wonderful comments about our clean and comfortable rooms, our genuinely interested staff, the hotel’s central location and the great atmosphere in the lobby.

I apologise that you did not get the Room upgrade that you are entitled to as an Intercontinental Ambassador. Kindly send me your details so I can find out what caused this.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the InterContinental Nairobi in the near future where you may be assured of our best possible attention at all times.

Had a pleasant stay at the Intercontinental Nairobi. The location is strategic with shops and restuarants at a stone throw distance. The rooms are neat and clean and comfortable. We were 3 people in one room, hence asked for an extra bed which was provided with no extra cost. However ordering food from the restuarants takes time to get delivered. The staffs are polite and pleasant.Overall a good place to stay.

This is perfect business accommodation in Nairobi - the rooms are spacious and very nice, the service is excellent, the restaurant food is great, and the hotel location is central. Stayed four nights, and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were friendly and always did what they could to help. Only problem is that the wifi internet it not free, and is actually quite expensive.

As an Ambassador member I should be upgraded automatically
The staff didn't offer it so I had to ask for it
It took some time to find a available suite
I didn't get a fruit basket, bottle of wine and a small gift- again had to ask for it
The room are nice and clean but some emenities are missing -like toothbrush
Club lounge is nice fully equipped and the staff is very helpful
I enjoy my stay ther as always

We stayed at Intercontinental hotel in Nairobi during our Wildlife safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania. The hotel location is excellent and well within walking distance to shopping including a bazzar where you can purchase African crafts at good price. The hotel room on our initial stay (2 nights) was great and had an excellent view of the city. On our additional one day stay, the room was on the second floor facing the roof. This was not particularly good but we stayed only for one night and it was tolerable. Breakfast buffet (included) was excellent and for vegetarians there were plenty of items to choose from.

Front desk was not particularly efficient but staff was courteous.

Not all rooms have ROUND three pin electric socket. So, you definitely need FLAT PRONG adaptor for charging mobile phones or camera battery. If you forget, don't worry. About 5 minutes walk from the hotel you can pick one up at Nukumatt for about USD 1.50.

I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Suggest request 4th or 5th floor and city view. Avoid rooms on the 2nd floor facing roof

Dear Bhujwalla,
Thank you for having chosen to stay with us during your Safari Trip to Kenya. We hope that your overall experience was worthwhile and are particularly delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us.
Your feedback and specific mention of the breakfast buffet selection is highly appreciated. With the anticipation of the need for the round pin sockets, adapters are readily available at the reception or for delivery to the room on request through the Guest Service Center. We apologize for any inconveniences that may have been experienced as a result.
Should it be on your next business or Safari trip to Kenya, we certainly look forward to welcoming you back to Intercontinental Nairobi.

Stayed at the Intercontinental for 2 nights starting 3rd August.

The check in was efficient and fast . I was given a room on the 6th Floor which was of a decent size though otherwise average. Even though I am a platinum card holder, was not given an upgrade. The hotel certainly needs to be refurbished - rooms are dated and tired and Bathrooms have fittings that belong to another age and do not work properly.

During my stay, Hillary Clinton too was a guest at the hotel and it seemed the hotel and staff existed only for her and her staff. Entrances were blocked ( at one time I wasted over 2 hours on the road trying to access the hotel). Residents were not allowed the use of regular elevators and were subjected to severe security checks on entering the hotel. On checking out, all guests had to walk a distance with luggage to the waiting cars which were not allowed entry into the hotel.

The only plus of this hotel is it's central location .

This is certainly not a 5 star hotel. I have stayed in much better 4 star hotels including hotels belonging to the group. It badly needs to be refurbished and interests and comforts of guests need to be taken care of.

I would not stay at this hotel again.
