“Decent hotel comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011 via mobile

Stayed here to be near airport . Be warned it's twenty minutes from airport but it took us over two hours in rush hour in rain! Not hotel fault but bear in mind a Nairobi issue. Clean efficient hotel with decent facilities - good room service . Security seems switched on - frisked going into hotel and all vehicles checked. Rooms aren't particularly sound proofrd - room next door had blaring tv on

The hotel had a priority club checkin counter, but both check in and out are pretty cumbersome and slow. The room was spacious and colonial in style, the bathroom is pretty small and old, but the shower was warm and abundant, which makes it functional. The surprise was under the curtains as I found running shoes belonging to the previous occupant, which raises questions as to the thoroughness of cleaning. Both breakfast and dinner were pretty good. The poolside bar is nice but during a tropical rainshower your shoes get soaked in ankle deep puddles when running back into the hotel under an umbrella kindly offered by the staff. The inside bar really is a pickup place for local ladies of leisure, so you had better go to the bar outside. Getting to and from the airport can be a disaster depending traffic. Check your business visit locations carefully. The last day we had business close to the airport and it took us from 4pm until 6.45pm to get back to the hotel.

Dear KesterMeijer,

Thank you for your feedback. We take our guest comments very seriously and always strive to provide comfortable, friendly and clean accommodations. We’re sorry you received service which was unacceptable. We hope that you give us a chance in the future to show you how great our hotel is.

Stayed here for a week. The hotel was clean but quite old. It was conveniently close to the business offices. Hotel staff were also friendly and accomodating. Food was also okay..

Stayed here for 2 nights in October, upon arrival into Kenya. Could be in any city, anywhere in the world. What you would expect of a hotel of this type. Although bathroom, in need of refurb, room itself, very clean and well appointed. On third floor, not noisy, at all. Food of very high standard and plenty of choice. Staff very helpful. Does exactly what it says on the tin !!!!

Hotel definitely needs refurbishment. There was a Rugby tournament taking place and all the players were staying at the hotel thus there was major noise around. Rooms are ok ...bath area was tolerable but could certainly do a make over. The wash basin had a crack mark.
Elevators were only 2 and they were taking a long time. They have an excellent Gym at the basement level.
Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: Had a room on the 6th floor ...no view as such.

Copied my feedback to the hotel:

An excellent hotel.

All the staff at this hotel have shown real professionalism and concern to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Given that the hotel was fully occupied I think that they all did an excellent job.

I have stayed at approx. 30 Intercons - this hotel is one of my top 2 or 3. Particularly worthy of note was the attitude and care of xxxxxx in the club lounge - she is a credit to IHG.

Well done Intercontinental Nairobi!

Room Tip: Far end of the corridor is quieter
