“Large hotl, very clean, not far from the airport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2011

This was a large hotel with sizable rooms, king beds and good furnishings. There was a sitting area and TV in each room. the staff at the desk were helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet was terrific with made to order eggs, fruit, pastries and more. We arrived at a very late hour...2AM but were in our room quickly. It was an excellent start and end to our safari.

We stayed here at the start of our safari holiday and it was perfectly OK for the purpose. The check-in took ages as we had arrived earlier than the normal check-in time, but the staff were very courteous and we didn't mind waiting for our room, despite being very tired from travelling overnight. The hotel was busy with conferences going on. The food was good and the bed extremely comfortable with very squashy pillows and duvet. As Nairobi is quite high above sea level, we weren't too hot and slept very well.

As part of a safari tour package to Kenya, I stayed at this hotel for a few days. While the room itself was fine (especially the executive level room we were switched to after maintenance declared the continuously flowing toilet in the first room could not be repaired in a timely manner), the fly infestation at the breakfast buffet was not expected. Seeing so many flies having direct access to come into contact with the food, plates, and utensils in the dining room unfortunately made the exerience less appealing.

All you expect of the Intercont chain is here. Regularly sized and furnished rooms, with the standard amenities, pleasant staff, well organised facilities, clean, decent - really nothing to complain about but also not to write home about. The gym is rather tiny and too busy, breakfast is on the expensive end, but none of this is new to the Interconts. Therefore, it's the accommodation you may expect, for the price you may expect too. The hotel surroundings are somewhat noisy, but a good view from the upper floors, everything is conveniently close (minus the Nairobi traffic, which makes everything very far, far away). Worthwhile staying in, if on business.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms close to the elevator (even though some are 'superior' on the internal scale. Tr...

Waited ages to check in.
Got a horrible room but managed to upgrade to one with more modern furnishings. Squished a roach in the bathroom of the new room one, housekeeping came and did their thing in the morning while I was attending a conference. I came back in the evening to find the roach was still there!!

Housekeeping cut corners and only cleaned the 'obvious' areas... Yuck!

As informed by my tour guide, Nairobi city is located in a radius of around 20kms all around. The hotel is located in the center of Nairobi with easy access to surrounding areas. The room was with free breafast which is served in the restaurant on the ground floor. There is also an Indian Restaurant located on the ground floor in the hotel. I ordered Chicken Biryani through room service and it was tasty. The rooms are excellent, however there was no view from my room. There are many discos and pubs within a 1km radius of the hotel where one can walk instead of renting a car. On Mondays the Masai Market is very close to the hotel, within 1km. There is also a casino nearby and many banks and ATM's. You also have to option to take cash from the hotel, however they charge you a fee of 6% on the amount withdrawn. Visited the Nairobi Museum and Snake Farm as well as Kiambethu Tea Farm which is on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the from of the hotel.

Very good, clean hotel. Very helpful staff. Quite considering hotel is just of the main highway. Not close to airport so inconvienent for early morning flights.
Good shopping area close by.
Food execelent and many options available. Internet speed fairly poor, not surprising as it is Africa. Executive lounge had many options during happy hour.
