“Really great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Great food, great atmosphere (the downstairs outdoor seating) and a wide variety of really fresh sushi! Love the spicy tuna rolls - what a crunch! The owner is a really nice gentleman and very friendly and accommodating. Definitely makes you feel at home.

“A great place for a special meal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

We've been to the Phoenician a couple of times now and have really enjoyed it.

The first time we went we sat outside downstairs and had mixed Lebenese and Sushi dishes, opting for the Popcorn vegetarian sushi, the falafels (just like from the middle east!), hummus and salad. All the dishes were really tasty, and the range of vegetarian options available was great. Sitting outside got a little chilly, and it was a shame to be so near the car park but the jikos made us a little warmer.

The second time we went with a group of friends and realised that the main restaurant is actually upstairs on the 4th floor. The menu is more extensive (including burgers and pizza, though why you'd want to eat those at this restaurant is beyond us!) and includes a selection of cocktails which aren't available downstairs.

One of us ordered the chorva (reported to be very good), one the vegetable gyoza and the vegetable tempura (both excellent), and two of us shared the royal fish sushi combo which was huge and apparently very tasty.

The only time I've heard someone complain about the food was about the mixed meat grill from the Lebanese section which was described as 'disappointing' but otherwise, we've really enjoyed all the food we've had there!

With several cocktails each and a shisha outside on the balcony at the end, it wasn't a cheap meal (about £25 a head if that's helpful to you) but as a place to go for a nice meal, it's hard to beat in Nairobi!

“Great Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The Lebanese cuisine at The Phoenician is really good. This coupled with the friendly staff and good services makes for a good experience.

I shall be trying the Japanese next time...

“Good Sushi and Lebanese at Junction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We have eaten at Phoenician couple times since we moved to Nairobi. We tried both sushi and lebanese which were very fresh, nicely prepared and served. Restaurant itself is located on top floor of Junction, which is one of few shopping centers in Karen district. Restaurant is busy on Fridays and weekends as expected but we were ale to find tables even though we did not have reservations. Their wine selection is very good along with other beverages. The place is not kid friendly though.... It does not even have a proper chair for kids. So definitely do not recommend it for people with small children.

“Excellent Varied Quisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We visited this restuarant twice whilst in Nairobi. Once with family and freinds and experienced the Tapanyaki which all agreed was excellent. Then again later in the week with a group of 11. on this occasion we experienced a mixture of Lebanese and Japenese quisine. Again it was enjoyed by all. The atmosphere is good the restaurant is large and airy and the staff are attentive and helpful. The manager in particular was always at hand.
