“Meltonia Luxury Suites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

We had recently enjoyed our vacation in Tanzania and Kenya, In Kenya we had spent 5 days in Meltonia Luxury Suites, I would like to share our views about the hotel.

Meltonia is a clean and nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The apartments are nice and well furnished. They are suitable for people on a short stay looking for clean, professional place.

This apartment hotel gives you a good value for your money.

Stayed here with my family (including my 1.5 year old twin daughters) as we had a one night transit in Nairobi. Stayed in two apartments facing each other. Peggy was really helpful during the initial phase and promptly responded to any queries I raised by email. We arrived around 7.30 pm in Nairobi and airport pick up was smooth and driver Ian was very helpful.

We booked two one bed room apartments opposite each other. The apartments were of decent size and had everything including cable TV and good speed Wi Fi. The beds were also really comfortable. The place has a small restaurant with one staff/chef and a limited menu from which you can order. We ordered room service and it took more than 1 hr for the food to arrive as he had many other orders prior to us. However because of the delay they waived the 200 khs room deliver charge.

We also had an early morning flight and ordered breakfast at 6.30 (room service) which was promptly delivered to the room (but of course the toast was burned and I couldn’t finish my coffee) and the driver was already waiting to take us to the airport. For the price they charge the place provides a real value for money especially given Nairobi hotel prices and gave us the much needed break/sleep after a looong flight from home.

I would happy to recommend this place to anyone and only wish they had 2 & 3 bedroom apartments/studios in addition to the one bed room ones as that would have been more convenient for us.

Staying in Meltonia Luxury Suites was one of the best part of our travel in Kenya. Meltonia is very well built, extremly clean, well maintained and has an excellent management, starting with Peggy, drivers, cleaners and security officers. Although being not a typical hotel, Meltonia is possibly one of the best places in Nairobi, since the hotel prices of the same quality are absolutely insane! It was beyond expectations how Peggy assisted most kindly to all customers, even late in the night or early in the morning. In my personal case, she even consulted her family to provide me with some information. Meltonia (Peggy) organised an excellent trip to the Nairobi National Park, and the driver Sam proved to be one of the best (kind and extremly knowledgeble) guides we have had during the entire trip in East Africa!

There is only one suggestion to improve the stay in Meltonia, but that is related to the behaviour of some of the turists/customers who should respect a bit more other customers of the Meltonia in particular during breakfasts. In this respect, I suggest to write/prepare a code of conduct for the visitors and request from the visitors to follow the rules. These cases are certainly rather rare, but need to be addressed.

I certainly recommend Meltonia, and wish to come again , hoping that Peggy will continue with her splendid management.

Room Tip: To our experiences, all the rooms are of the similar quality.

Other reviewers are correct, this is not an hotel. But they don't advertise as such, they are luxury suites and they certainly meet that description. Wonderfully equipped, spacious, clean and comfortable. With ridiculous hotel rates in and around Nairobi, Meltonia, epecially with the tripadvisor discount voucher, are extremely good value for money and offer so much more than the standard hotel room in town. The restaurant is not much to talk about but there are plenty of really good eateries nearby. tru it now, and take advantage of the voucher offer.

The staff at Meltonia are all very pleasant, goes out of their way to please, and very accommodating. When we first arrived there, we were feeling a little apprehensive when we saw all the barbed wires on top of the high fences.....wondering, who are they blocking out????

Then, we noticed that this was not a hotel...more like apartment units. A little disappointed, until we went into the two rooms we booked for the family. They were clean, welcoming, and wi-fi ready....great!!!

We flew over 20 hrs. flts and it was 10:45 pm by the time we got in to the hotel. We wanted a cold beer! But, alas, they have no bar....nor alcohol. But, the hotel got the driver to get us cold beers! How sweet....and thoughtful! We were happy as climbing monkeys!

The chef went out of her way to whip up something for us...it took about almost an hour but the spread was magnificent. We wolfed it up so quickly and clean off the plate that she was shocked to see all the plates were empty....so fast. Yes, we cleaned it up okay. Hit the spot too! It was midnight by the time we finished the meal. Couldn't believe she stayed that late to still manage to cook something for us. And, we downed it with that special Tusker beer. That in itself was a gift! Thanks to the chef, and also Peggy at the front desk and Moses, the driver!

The bed was comfy with clean comforter. Kenya is chilly at night so we were very cozy in our bed. You have to turn the switch on to take a shower to get the water heater going. We were there only one night but loved being there.

The next morning, we were surprised to see the same chef was again in the kitchen. This is at 7:30 in the morning. Beautiful freshly squeezed juices....mango, passion, and one other which I can't remember the name. They will make an egg dish, if you wish. Breakfast was yummy and included in the room rate.

I would recommend this place to anyone but would probably be better to stay there longer. We wished we could have stayed at least another night. We were charged $125 per room with breakfast included. We were satisfied with everything!

I needed a hotel for a night in Nairobi for a work trip. I chose this place based on the great reviews. I was somewhat disappointed to realize that these are serviced apartments and it's definitely not a hotel. There is no front desk, but a crammed office where I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to get off the phone so I can check in. Breakfast is so so, not many choices with a somewhat rude waitress. It's pretty far from downtown (and pretty much everything), took me 45 minutes to get there by car in rush hour. So while I would recommend this place for a longer stay when it's nice to have a kitchen and a fully furnished one bedroom apartment, it's certainly not a hotel and I would not recommend it for a short work trip.

These appartments are about 10 minutes further on than the airport hotels like Ole Sereni, and half the cost. I had baggage problems at the airport and was delayed quite a time yet the taxi driver was still waiting when I came out. He said Peggy had been ringing wondering where I was. I arrived late and Peggy was waiting to check me in and bags were caried up to second floor appartment. Spotlessly clean with a good choice of complimentary drinks. Bed was comfortable and location very quiet.
I needed breakfast at 6 am and was told that wouldn't be a problem. Went down for brekafast at 6 and all was ready. taxi driver was already tehre waiting.
All in all a great service was provided. happily stay here again.
