To be fair, the Sirona while shabby and dated is still a decent find for those on a tight budget, as Nairobi does not offer many options (for a large room, private bath, and free WiFi) under US$70 night. They also have day room rates for US$35. However, if you are over 35 and your days trying to travel around the world for less than $30/day are behind you, than you definitely have better options to choose from.
Sirona was a quaint and popular gem in the early '90's, but seemingly has been mothballed since then. The online photos really misrepresent what you will find; long scary hallways with deteriorating walls and dirty carpets, rooms that are in a similar state, cold showers, and beds with old and threadbare linens, and rooms that upon entering feel as if you are not sure all has been cleaned from the last guest's departure. On the plus side the front desk staff was helpful, the bar has a huge projected TV system (must be where all the facility improvement $ went), and all the rooms have included (fairly fast) WiFi.
I woke up hoping that a hearty breakfast (included in room cost) would be my reward for a "butt" room, but that was not the case. Breakfast was just as shabby, with stale cereal, white bread to toast, and weak coffee. You might have been able to order some eggs to go with the minimalist buffet, but I did not stick around to find out.
The location in Westlands is not too bad, and is pretty convenient to places many may need to get to. Overall I would pass on staying here again, but I must admit when I used to visit Nairobi in my 20's and every $50 bucks I spent made a huge difference, I may have stayed here again. These days however, for another few dollars there are just too many other quality options to choose from. Also, if you take some time on Trip Advisor you can still locate a few $70/night options that are much better.
