“Excellent Safari”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014 NEW

Explorer Kenya helped create an excellent customised itineary for us and we had a memorable safari experience thru this comapany. Robert was very prompt in his email responses and planning the entire route and bookings. Special thanks to Nick our guide for the 10 day tour to Lake Nakuru, Masia Mara , Naivasha and Amboselli. He was excellent in his knowledge about the Mara routes and local information. Extremely punctual and helpful thru the tour. We will definitely plan another Safari holiday with Explorer Kenya and Nick soon.

My sister and I had a blast during 7/13~7/19 in Kenya.
Thanks to Robert's quick response and arrangement, thanks to Simon for the great city tour. Especially thanks to Moses for the great safari time.
Wish to go back for another Safari vacation very soon and will definitely choose explorer Kenya to be our guide again.

“Explorer Kenya is top notch! Jimmy's the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014 NEW

Booked a 5 day/4 night safari and the safari far exceeded any expectations I had going into the trip. We hit Lake Nakuru, the Masai Mara, and Lake Naivasha national reserve. While there is a lot of driving between some of these areas, everything was extremely well organized and the overnight accommodations were exceptional. Our guide, Jimmy, was very knowledgeable of the areas he was taking us through, and was adept at finding those areas of the park where we would see the most wildlife. This was a once in a lifetime trip, made even better by the outstanding professionalism of Explorer Kenya, and especially Jimmy!

“Unforgettable safari in the Masai Mara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Amazing 3 night/4 day safari, 1 night at Lake Nakuru (Flamingo Hill luxury camp) and 2 nights in the Masai Mara (Mara Base Camp).

Robert helped me with our booking and was very responsive via email, answering my many questions very quickly.

Nick, our guide and driver, was punctual, accommodating, knowledgeable and just plain nice. He struck a perfect balance between providing information about the scenery and animals and allowing my husband and I time to soak up the experience in silence. I highly recommend him.

Our 4WD Jeep was clean and comfortable and the pop-up roof was fabulous for the game drives. The Jeeps are quite high up off the road, which I found minimized my car sickness (which is usually quite bad on long drives).

Flamingo Hill luxury camp was total luxury, amazing accommodation and service. Mara Base Camp similarly had great accommodation and service, although a little less flawless compared with Flamingo Hill. I'd recommend both.

Most importantly - the parks! The lake and forest in Nakuru are stunning. Unfortunately there are no flamingos are the moment (the water level is too high), so unless you are big on beautiful scenery or keen to see white rhinos (the only animal in the park you can't see in the Masai Mara), I'd head straight to the Masai Mara. In the Mara we saw the big five (elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard), plus cheetah, giraffe, hippos, impala - everything you can imagine. We also saw a river crossing of wildebeest and zebra. It was a totally amazing experience!

I'd highly recommend Explorer Kenya, and in particular our guide Nick. Thanks Explorer Kenya!

“Fantastic safari and a great guide!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

We had a great week on safari operated by Explorer Kenya (booked through or Norwegian agent Hibiscus).

Robert was quick to respond when we arrived in Nairobi and also arranged for a driver that could tak us around a bit while we had our one day in Nairobi before the safari started.
We were picked up by our driver / guide Simon Maina in Nairobi and he was with us the whole five days we had of safari. He made our safari experience great as he was very knowledgeable
about both the animals and also about Kenya in general. He was also passionate about making sure we experienced many different animals, and we truly had a lot of great experiences.
He was also very patient about staying long enough in each spot to make sure we truly got the feeling of the animals. Our trip went to Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli.

The highlight of the trip was watching lions chilling 2 meters from the car in Masai Mara, watching cheetas 'play / hunt' for zebras in the sunset in Amboseli,
having a flock of elephants run past the car in great numbers in Amboseli and experiencing lions relaxing in the trees (..) in Lake Nakuru....

Lake Nakuru was maybe the least intersting part of the safari as the park was small, we had to drive far to get there and it really didn't add that much more to the other parks. We understood that the wildlife of the park (especially flamingo's) had been adversely affected by the recent massive flooding of the lake, hopefully this issue can be resolved.
The drive however gave us a good insight into Kenya as we took different routes up and down to Lake Nakuru to see the diversity of kenyan nature. Simon explained a lot during
the trip and this truly added to the experience.

We also really felt that we got very good value for money as this was one of the more reasonable options for safari that we investigated. The accomodation in Masai Mara was of a simple standard, but ok. Accomodation in Amboseli was really nice. All inn all a fantatstic week much helped by a great guide, and it can absolutely be recommended!
