“Excellent steaks and lamb shanks, service needs improving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

A boy’s night out started with drinks in the bar, beer as good as always. We moved on to the Butchers Block restaurant, It was nice to get the amouse-bouche to begin with but one of my fellow diners said it was the same dish as the previous month, so a change would be good and the waiter just put them on the table and walked away, it would be nice to know what we were about to eat, however it tasted good! We had crab risotto and a kind of rabbit vol-au-vent, they were both very good. For mains we had lamb shank and steaks, the chateaubriand was excellent quality and the steaks were cooked exactly as we requested (not always the case in Kenya), served with some great chunky chips, the red wine jus needs some refinement. The waiter would not initially allow us to pay 50% of the bill each with 2 credit cards which was frustrating but after some discussion he did accept. Overall great food but not so good service with the maitre d’ only doing the rounds once early on in the meal so we didn’t really get chance to feedback to her.

“Nice menu, close to Junction Mall & Dagoretti Corner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is a nice place within short walking distance of The Junction Mall and the Dagoretti matatu stage. It has a varied and interesting menu with many starter type items. The seating is open air on the second floor. The seating is covered and comfortable but in the middle of the day it got quite warm so you might want to go here for a late dinner. They had free wifi. The beer selection was very good with locally produced beers. The service was friendly and prompt, but when we ere there it was not very busy.

“Electric atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

If you went to Brew Bistro on a friday evening believe you me neither will you get a place to park and neither a sq foot to stand. The place is so busy but yet they manage to serve you. Go for the big jugs of beer and snacks, all are good. The music is electric and yup you will see a lot wedding crashers. Its a place where all the young wroking people of Nairobi congregate on friday night. On other days they have live music on Tuesday nights

“Great beer...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

I have been there twice in the oust two weeks.
first time in the back, in the vip restaurant. quite silent, fancy, clean.
food wasn't as expected, I ordered ravioli and I got one, yes, one raviolo. .... tasty yes. but One!
so I dedicated attention to the beer.
they produce their own beer.
first time I drunk only pilsner. four pints. definitely good.

second time was Sunday afternoon. went there just for drinks. got six pints of brown dark beer. amazing.
if you pass by Nairobi and you like beer, as I do, is a must!
Sunday afternoon I was there during the happy hour. you pay full price and you get two dries.
a pint is 400 shillings. very good price.
live music on Sunday was great. on Friday evening for music was too loud...
rather than a restaurant I consider it as a good pub....

“Great food, average service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

was there on a wednesday. The place was quite full even when this was during the elections counting. Great ambiance and i loved the food. This chef knows his job.
Unfortunately the waiters didnt keep up the high kitchen standards.
I asked for rice and after 20 min, when my food had become cold, i got fries...
When the rice finally arrived after another 15 min i was done eating and asked them to pack it to go, together with half the enourmous portion of my girlfriends chicken. They did so, but charged me for the packing...

Some of the waiters also seemed to be a bit rude while others dis a really good job.

Dont let this scare u :).
The place is absolutely worth a visit. They even got an ok band playing and a dance floor, so u can keep enjoying the evening and a couple of drinks after the great food.

I will for sure be back :).
