A boy’s night out started with drinks in the bar, beer as good as always. We moved on to the Butchers Block restaurant, It was nice to get the amouse-bouche to begin with but one of my fellow diners said it was the same dish as the previous month, so a change would be good and the waiter just put them on the table and walked away, it would be nice to know what we were about to eat, however it tasted good! We had crab risotto and a kind of rabbit vol-au-vent, they were both very good. For mains we had lamb shank and steaks, the chateaubriand was excellent quality and the steaks were cooked exactly as we requested (not always the case in Kenya), served with some great chunky chips, the red wine jus needs some refinement. The waiter would not initially allow us to pay 50% of the bill each with 2 credit cards which was frustrating but after some discussion he did accept. Overall great food but not so good service with the maitre d’ only doing the rounds once early on in the meal so we didn’t really get chance to feedback to her.
