“Great, relaxing restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

We ate here several times during a long stay at the hotel. They do take-out cappuccino in the morning (in addition to sit-down breakfast) and the lunch and dinner food was quite good. The sandwiches are particularly good, though large. Their desserts are excellent and the chef even went out of his way to make me a particular dessert they were out of the first couple times we visited. The live music and heaters in the evening are a nice touch.

“Best sandwiches in Nairobi!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

When in need of a really good sandwich in Nairobi, this is the place to go. The best part is that they make everything in-house which guarantees that the quality is maintained, as they have done for years. The only exception to this, is the fact that they serve store bought crisps with the sandwich but you can look past it. For those who love sushi, there's something for you as well.

Best sandwich hands down...pork with shallot marmalade! It's worth the early morning drives on a weekend, just to get it. P.s. they don't usually serve sandwiches for breakfast but the fact that they extend their courtesy and have never turned me away, is an indication of their excellent service.

“An excellent place to hold meetings and to spend the day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

The Mukutan Garden Cafe is part of the Fairview Hotel and is positioned at the front of the building. Having been there many times before we were given a lovely welcome, but we were also really well looked after by the staff. We had various meetings there and facilities are available to plug in one's laptop etc. and there is free wifi. The food good with a choice from different parts of the world.

“Peaceful and Green, decent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

I have been visiting the Mukutan frequently over the past years both as resident and visitor, particularly for coffee and lunch, with friends, business relations and alone. Overall food quality is good, but it is not spectacular. It misses a certain refinement but certainly makes for a decent lunch. Staff is friendly and responsive and as a regular guest it always feels like coming home, even after few months of absence. The espresso usually is fine, but sometimes needs re-done. Staff will do without hesitation. The most attractive of the Mukutan is the location: geographically positioned in Upperhill, near the CBD, in a secluded very green area, with relaxing 'waterfall' sounds and lots of trees. You will forget how close you are near the CBD and Waiyaki Highway.
