I have been to this restaurant a dozen times over the last four years. Our family enjoys mediterranean and egyptian food quite a bit, so we were happy to find a good restaurant. It is definitely off the beaten path and would not visit unless you were probably invited by someone who knew about it first.
We have not been back for a year and knew that it was under renovation for the last few months and couldn't wait to get back. We invited a few other couples to meet us there, some who had never been and were Lebanese.
Enough back story, on to the experience. We arrived at 6pm and before we were even seated, things did not look good. They used to have a very nice garden, it looks like it hasn't been touched other than a pretty bad grass cut. The seating is sparse, making me think it is not being replaced as it is broken or worn out. We were seated in a small tent that was dank and smelly, probably from hookas. We ordered around 6:15 and began to joke that they were probably going out to buy the food. We were not served until 8pm. Most of the meat was undercooked and returned to the kitchen. This restaurant is not cheap. We spent over 1,000ksh each. When the meat returned it seemed like less meat. The meat that was cooked was cold inside, the other meals were cold and seemed stale. The cook came out (since the manager left already) and apologized, but was also defensive. At this point words could not do much, we had kids that were well passed their bed time, had still not eaten and now grumpy parents. There was no offer to cut down the bill or to provide credit to a future bill. No offer to make things right. There is absolutely ZERO chance we will ever return after that experience.
