“Food good, service not always consistent, but still tops for seafood in Nairobi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

I have been to Sevens several times with friends and family. Each time I tried several dishes from the seafood and steak selection. The entrecôte steak is a good choice with the mushroom sauce. The chili prawns starter is a bit too small, which is why I usually get the Sevens prawns starter for the table. I have also had the fish Kiev and the lobster, which were great. I also recommend the Lobster cappuccino and getting one of their fishbowl drinks if you're searching for a buzz.

The food is always hot and tasty. The service has always been good as well. That's until last night - a Saturday (it was busy so it must have had something to do with it). The female server didn't seem too concerned with the fact our drinks didn't come out and that she didn't put in the entree until our starters were done, which delayed the meal - we didn't get our entree until 30 minutes after our starter. I also wasn't too crazy about the seafood paella. It didn't lack seafood, but it did lack seasoning and was a bit too dry. In the end we avoided getting dessert and coffee because we feared the additional time it would take.

I'll chalk it up to a not-so-good server among an otherwise pretty impressive service team on a busy night of the week. I will probably avoid going there on Saturdays in the future. Despite this one bad experience last night, I would still recommend it to anyone fixing for seafood and steak in Nairobi, especially if you're a little tired of the same old, same old from the likes of Tamarind, etc. The lounge is also clutch for an after dinner drink, but they clearly don't ave the license yet to keep the bar open late night (we closed the lounge a couple of times during the week - AT 11pm!). If they did stay open later , they'd definitely give Mercury (next door) a run in competition for late-night drinks.

“Excellent seafood dishes!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Doesn't seem like you could go wrong with any dish here. The food is great and fresh. Went with a group and every single dish ordered was excellent. The adjacent bar had a cool selection of drinks and friendly bar tenders.
The chili crab pot is fun to eat and entertained the entire table from the way it was served up with all the available tools to get at the crab meat, to the process of getting to the bottom of the pot.

“Over hyped place...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Nice ambience, but the signature sauce which comes with so much of the food is somewhat overbearing, as its based on smoked paprika. The fish was nice, but the examples lying on ice were really past their sale by date. Overall we were disappointed, we went there as it had so many excellent reviews, but it just didn't live up to its reputation!

“A great place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Nairobi is very well served with a variety of really good restaurants offering virtually every type of international cuisine.
the Seven is an outstanding establishment specialising in sea food. They offer a wide variety of fresh water and sea fish cooked to perfection as well as lobster prawns and crab beaytifully cooked prepared and presented.
There is a reasonable wine list
Service is excellent, the ambience is good and parking and security, p-roblems in Nairobi, are good.
Seven is expensive by Nairobi standards which means it does it is rather less than London and New York.
Well worth a visit for lunch or dinner
My family and I visit often and have never been disappointed

“Nice Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

After our hotel fail to recommend anywhere to eat we went with trip advisor and tried here. It wasn't what I was expecting, it's sort of on a little shopping mall/estate but it was very nice.

We had drinks next door as the restaurant was pretty empty (it did fill up a little but not much).

Choices were good and the food was nice, prices were resonable.

all in all a nice meal in a nice setting
