“Great seafood a long way from the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

Seven is a bit difficult to find, but well worth the effort. The whole fish is grilled and served in an unusual vertical presentation. It is not necessary to order side dishes as ample accompaniments are included. Service was prompt and efficient and all the food was very good and well prepared. Not a romantic venue but very popular with the locals.

“Great seafood but exorbitant prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

Had an excellent seafood platter with fresh and well marinated seafood. Service was good and wine recommended complemented the dish quite well. THe downfall of Seven's was the lack of heating during the cold nights of July/August. The breeze coming from outside penetrated right through the restaurant. Also, the sides, a plate of vegetables that came with the platter didn't complement the seafood too well. The chips were so huge that in my opinion suited a "fish and chips" diner rather than a fine dining restaurant. Price was rather exorbitant for two despite accommodating for the cost of seafood. Would do better with a price drop and warmth.

“Seafood-abulous!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

First impressions of Seven Seafood & Grill are impressive. The funky, "Cape Town" style restaurant, with its Electric Blue feel really gives you the feel that you are in the right place.
The ambiance is just right, a little noisey, but that could have been due to the fact that it was packed! To me a good sign, especially as the tables were filled with people that looked "local" not tourist - it was re-assuring, especially when eating Seafood, in Kenya, inland!!
The Seafood display reinforced that feeling, a display of all kinds of fresh fish, lobsters, prawns and a massive crab!
The service at Seven was unlike any we had experience in Kenya. I dropped my fork and within seconds there was "Betty" our waiter, at our table to grab it off the floor and hand me a brand new one. Drinks came when you ordered them, cocktails were potent and extremely good!!
The food was presented really well, not too far off a swanky London restaurant but even better than that were the flavors! The food was terrific!
Overall I would have to commend Seven and the staff for such a pleasurable experience, it was truly fantastic and if I come to Kenya again, Seven Seafood & Grill will be first pot of call on my itinerary!
Everyone visiting Kenya should go eat at Seven!!

“Kai moana (sea food) to die for”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2011

I have only been in Nairobi for 1 month and have dined at Seven on two seperate occasions, once for dinner and more recently for a "business" lunch with mates. To say I am impresed with the quality and selection of the seafood available is an understatement, especially with Nairobi being so far from the coast. Simply delicious!
The place fills up quick so it is probably wise to book in advance especially for dinner, although both the times I have visited we have managed to be seated straight away after walking in off the street.

“The only place in Nairobi to go for seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2011

Seafood and Nairobi doesn't normally go hand in hand. Seven is the exception. The restaurant serves extremely fresh and well prepared seafood (it is brought in by plane from Mombasa every day). For the starter we shared half a dozen of very good oysters. Then we had the big seafood platter, which included several forms of lobster, squid, giant prawns and the catch of the day (red snapper), which was deep fried in breadcrumbs, but not in the sad way you usually get fish and chips. I doubt that I ever had better and more fresh seafood! Even the side dishes were quite extraordinary... Also unusually for Nairobi, the restaurant actually serves good wines (and the waiter knows what he is speaking about). Only minus with this place is the location (at a mall in Westlands, with a view to parked cars). But who cares if you can seafood like this!
