“Good Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

This place came highly recommended. The menu prices were what stuck with me more than anything, It is expensive. That said the beef ribs I had were superb and well cooked. Their parmesan chips with truffle oil are also legendary.

“Decent food, just not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

We went to tatu for my birthday dinner with family and I have to say its probably the most expensive meal I've ever had in this city.

The crab cakes were ok, but too small and we got only two little ones. Just not worth the 2500/- we paid for them.

The beetroot and goat cheese was very good, at 1700/- it's also a bit steep.

The tomato soup was good.

The pappadum and naan that was brought at the start was a good idea but poorly executed. Firstly pappadum is not bread and the waiter sounded dumb calling it a bread basket.
Secondly you don't put warm, moist naan right next to dry, crisp pappadum... Guess what happens to the pappadum in a few minutes?

The rack of lamb was excellent.

The 200g tenderloin steak was tiny. Very tiny. And paying upwards of 3000/- for it just made me feel guilty. It was also quite bland. Oh and by the way it doesn't come with any sides so you gotta pay 850/- for some 'truffle fries' or some asparagus etc...

Lastly on the menu they have a 'latte machhatio' - on asking the waiter what this was, he said it was a cappuccino with chocolate.
So the most expensive restaurant run in Nairobi by the Fairmont group doesn't know the difference between a mocha and a macchiato... And you charge 550/- for it?
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Overall, I'd say if you want a great steak, go to butchers block at brew bistro or Seven at village market.

“Proper Fine Dinning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

Pricey restaurant located in the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel, where the food was excellent(as should be in case of a 5 star Hotel's flagship restaurant) and the service was exemplary. Had their New York Strip and the meat tasted just right while the accompaniments were clearly made from very fresh ingredients.
Dessert was a classic Tiramisu which was just delectable.

“EXCELLENT DISHES, VERY GOOD CHEF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

One of the best meals we had throughout our stay in Kenya.
The chef is very skilled, knows what he was doing.
The ambiance so nice, minimalist decor, feng shui style very futuristic.
The ingredients used all so very fresh and flavors were up to scratch.
My husband had spicy lobster tandouri, this was out of this world.
I had carpacio, this was amazing, i also had ostrich steak, to die for.
I cannot stop singing my praises for this restaurant, it is very much worth a visit
Shame it was not busy at the time we visited since it was shortly before Xmas eve and perhaps everybody was busy with the family.

“Excellent steak restaurant but the meat quality should be higher”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

We went here for our anniversary and the service was phenomenal, we had the chef's table and they addressed both of us by name. Her filet was excellent but my sirloin was a bit unimpressive. Sides were all nicely done and they had a special dessert for us. Great attention to detail, a nice place for a special occasion but bring a big wallet.
