“EXCELLENT DISHES, VERY GOOD CHEF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

One of the best meals we had throughout our stay in Kenya.
The chef is very skilled, knows what he was doing.
The ambiance so nice, minimalist decor, feng shui style very futuristic.
The ingredients used all so very fresh and flavors were up to scratch.
My husband had spicy lobster tandouri, this was out of this world.
I had carpacio, this was amazing, i also had ostrich steak, to die for.
I cannot stop singing my praises for this restaurant, it is very much worth a visit
Shame it was not busy at the time we visited since it was shortly before Xmas eve and perhaps everybody was busy with the family.

“Excellent steak restaurant but the meat quality should be higher”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

We went here for our anniversary and the service was phenomenal, we had the chef's table and they addressed both of us by name. Her filet was excellent but my sirloin was a bit unimpressive. Sides were all nicely done and they had a special dessert for us. Great attention to detail, a nice place for a special occasion but bring a big wallet.

“Ksh 500 for 1 hour internet, this is daylight robbery!”

Just like in Europe, paying for internet access is becoming unacceptable. Paying (eating / drinking) customers should be provided internet access FOC.

“Modernised, but still with a good traditional feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is the grand old hotel of Nairobi, and it feels like it. The cottages have gone but the rooms have been sensibly modernised, and the restaurants are still welcoming and attractive. Right next to the university, which makes it an active location, but not at all threatening.

“Exquisite Fare and Local Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Too miss a meal at either the Lord Delamere Terrace, or the more upmarket Tatu, at the Norfolk whilst in Nairobi would be a huge mistake. If you can't afford to stay at this 5 star hotel, at least treat yourself to a meal there.
I had the best barbecued Lobster I'd eaten in years at the Tatu.
From the extensive Lord Delamere Terrace menu I chose to go local. The food was as good as at the Tatu, but way cheaper. I supp'd on fabulous Kenyan specialties such as the Boma Grill, a divine selection of succulent lamb, beef and chicken cooked to perfection, served with peasmash a combination of potato and peas and salad. I also had the local ugali, a cornmeal delicacy way nicer than polenta, served with fabulous grilled fish, from Lake Victoria.
Wine lists were excellent with a range of local and imported wines at reasonable prices.
I ate alone at the Lord Delamere Terrace, and the staff could not have been more welcoming, nor obliging, helping me with suggestions in relation to local dishes.
There were eight of us who celebrated a couple of birthdays at Tatu and the staff coped equally adeptly with handling a large, diverse, indecisive group.
Another joy of the Norfolk is that they source all their food locally, some even comes from their own kitchen garden, which you can visit within the grounds. They have policies and practices that support local, often organic and biodynamic producers and the food reflects quality ingredients and meticulous preparation.
Their coffee, sourced locally and roasted at the Norfolk is something so exquisite, I will remember it as the coffee of a lifetime. Arabica beans, prepared to showcase one of Kenya's most famous products, at its best.
The Norfolk is a gastronome's delight. To eat there is to be guaranteed an experience that will linger in your memory forever, savouring the tastes, culture and outstanding hospitality of Kenya. Just go there, eat, drink in its ambience and savour the best of Kenyan fare!
