“Outstanding Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

We stayed one night at this camp, but should have stayed more! Our local travel advisors (Eland Safaris) recommended this place for our last day in Nairobi following a ten day safari in Kenya and Tanzania. They had personally checked out the location and when we looked on TA it had perfect ratings. Well it lived up to our expectations and more.

Some of our group were a bit wary about camping, but this is really luxurious and hard to call camping. Yes, there are canvas walls, but you have your own toilet, shower and washbasin adjacent to the bedroom. The accommodations were very, very nice. There are eight tented units on the side of a slight hill, with a veranda at the front. You can get a shower on request (water is heated over a fire and carried to a large sack next to your bathroom.

The camp is the only one in Nairobi National Park. It is very close to the city and airports, but the park itself has plots of wildlife to see, including lions, rhino, hyenas, eland, giraffes, etc.. We saw a lot on our one game drive, including lions stalking and attacking eland. We also took a visit to the David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary.

We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by a very hospitable and friendly staff, who carried our bags from the parking area to the tents. The lounge area was wonderful, as was the dining tent. After checking in, we sat around a wonderful fire sipping wine (all drinks included) talking to Kim, the manager. Monkeys passed overhead on their way to their overnight spots providing entertainment. There are Masai employees all around the camp to escort you, since wild animals are all around. It felt very safe.

We had a wonderful dinner sitting on comfortable sheepskin clad seats (see previous TA reviews). All of the meals were superb; we even got a recipe from the chef for a courgette salad which just wowed some of our party. The service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff were very attentive and gracious. Everyone gave this place the highest rating, even the non-campers and regretted that we did not stay longer to just relax.

If you have some time in Nairobi, even just a night, give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good. Book early, since there are only eight units.

We were treated with so much care at NTC. Kim Pierce and the staff were attentive and thoughtful in everything they did. Kim took us on a game drive and found us 3 lions (not easy!!) and a host of other animals (zebra, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, hartebeest, etc.). She is experienced, knowledgeable and friendly - just the person you'd want to spend time with on safari. She joined us for dinner and talked at length about Nairobi National Park and all the conservation efforts NTC has made to leave as small a footprint as possible, which I believe they're doing with great success.

This is a truly unique experience, and I would recommend staying more than 1 night. 2 or 3 nights would be ideal. And, take a game drive after the sun sets, too. Seeing a giraffe standing in the middle of the road in the dark is an eerie, surreal experience.

Room Tip: All the rooms are in the bush, some farther from the "mess area" than others. They are all...

We had a very short overnight stay in Nairobi before flying on to Malindi and whilst I was looking around for somewhere to stay I stumbled upon this little gem.....
We had an awesome stay - an N.T.C. guide met us at the gate of game park ( they had arranged a pick up from the airport for us too) and from there took us on a lovely game drive for a couple of hours. We spotted Lion on a kill, plenty of plains game, giraffe, rhino, buffalo and plenty of vultures.....
Our arrival at camp was through some dense forest and what seemed a million boulders but what a sight for sore eyes ! A beautiful tented camp lit by hurricane lamps with fresh lemonade on arrival ..... Hot water for bathing was via a wood burning stove and a bucket system. The food was awesome and the hot water bottles were a welcome addition as it was a little chilly.
I really enjoyed going to sleep listening to the Lions and Hyenas and waking up to tea on the stoop whilst gazing into the misty trees where the Sykes monkeys were foraging for food and sending droplets of rain down on my head ! ( at least I thought it was droplets of rain ! )
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has a short stop over in Nairobi, Kim and her crew were very hospitable and the location truly magnificent.

I had three nights in NTC, everything was fantastic from my tent to the food and service. I saw some amazing sights in Nairobi National Park, including lion cubs and 2 male ostriches fighting, which topped off the perfect stay!

I stayed at NTC for 5 days and each day was amazing, from the facilities, to the staff, and even the food the whole place is awesome. The camp is in a great location, right in the middle of the national park, which is full of so many amazing animals, yet you are still situated close to the centre of Nairobi. I would recommend the camp to anyone for a short break or even a longer stay like i had.

I was in Nairobi on business and spenrt the weekend at NTC. What an absolute pleasure being out in the bush instead of in the concrete jungle. The camp is close to Nairobi but you feel as if you are miles away from anything.
The game drives were fantastic with Peter, a very knowledgeable guide.who not only knows his animals but his birds as well.
The food is wonderful, the company excellent and the experience one that I would not have missed for the world!
