“Happy Days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

This was my second stay at Upperhill, and it felt like home away from home straight away. The staff are great - helpful and friendly. I stayed in the dorm - clean and comfortable - very good value. Good food, well-priced. Clean facilities. Good security. The communal lounge and the bar provide a fantastic social scene, where I met some great people and had some great times!

“Not that good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

during my time there I felt that they were looking too much at the money, they charge you for everything, also no internet in the place, the cabins are small and cery budget...had a terrible beds too, hot water not alwais working, they do not allow any food (anyway cannot cook, no guest kitchen) or drinks from outside, I dont understand, their business is going very well, almost alwais full, why do not improve the quality? people will get tired in the future especialy if Kenya will increase the tourism and of course the number of hostels... why not change the pillows? our mattress was 1cm hight...
will not be back!

“Avoid Home-Sickness! Take UpperHill (with a bottle of Tusker) Daily!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

I've been coming to Upper Hill Campsite every Summer for the past 3 years; wouldn't go anywhere else. The people are friendly, the food is good (and reasonably priced), and you can't been the rate. Basic accommodations in dormitories/cabins/tents, but if you're traveling Kenya, it's all you need (and they're still clean, comfortable, and safe)! Great common area for meeting wonderful people, awesome little bar on the side, and beautiful grounds to hang out outside. A great place to stay - close to bus stops that are 15 minutes from downtown and shopping centres down the road (with a wonderful, tasty cafe that has free WiFi!!)

Room Tip: Privacy is nice in the tent if you're on your own, but can become a bit chilly during Winter on...

“Home away from hom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

My husband and I have been staying at Upper Hill campsite since early 2008, and for the most part, we have enjoyed it immensely. There is a really community feel to the place, and if traveling alone you will have no problems meeting people. Jessi and her husband Richard go out of their way to see that you are happy and give great advice on places to see and things to do.
My only complaint is that you are not allowed to use your hairdryer. The breakfasts are very generous, and the meals are modestly priced...for Nairobi.
Upper Hill is also a very safe place in which to stay.
The beds are somewhat uncomfortable and the sheets tend to be too small for the mattresses, but for the price you can't complain. It is recommended that you bring along your own pillow.
Rooms are also adequate. On our last trip we stayed in one of the outdoor Bandas which have individual little porches and set in a beautiful garden.
All in all, Upper Hill is a pretty good bet for the money

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

I stayed at Upper Hill campsite for 3 days while in Nairobi. There is a real community feel to the place, a home away from home, which was a welcome relief for me coming out of the bush in South Sudan. The food was good, and I enjoyed the company of the other guests and staff.
