“ok for price and location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

I stayed in this hotel for one night , an unplanned stay. I stayed on the top floors because I knew the area is very noisy. Unfortunately despite the high floor I could not sleep there were nearby clubs that were very noisy .

The room is very average even though they say they have improved the hotel , my room was smelling of cigarette. Bed was rather ok mattress was ok but they provide blankets and not duvets. There was hot water no amenities. The worst thing was the towels , they have green towels , you dont even want to touch them. I would suggest the management to start by changing the towels in their improvement plans.

For a one night stay in town is ok since the location is right in the middle of CBD. Breakfast was good though I didnt eat much but at least there was variety. The chef was walking around chatting with guest which was good .

TV was tiny and channels ok I guess for the price. They give you the remote control at check in give it back at check out. There other things in the hotel such as the casino but I did not visit.

The hotel is shabby and worn. It would need some renovation, the atmopshere is not charming. The rooms are simple furnished and more or less clean, the staff is friendly and security good, the breakfast buffet just average.
Central location is an advantage but it is very noisy, because of the traffic, an attached casino and an club/bar just opposite it. Overpriced for quality.

The hotel is situated in the middle of CBD of Nairobi. The rooms are clean although the wifi was a bit slow. The bathroom was fine and big enough.
We enjoyed our breakfast and we were able to park our hired car in the basement. I was leaving very early in the morning and l realized that l needed some extra cash. The guards at the hotel offered to escort me to the nearest ATM machine. l thought that that was a very good gesture.

The hotel location is the biggest advantage since this is in City Centre & very close to the Parliament. It takes around 45 mins - 75 mins (depending on traffic) to reach from Airport or Nairobi National Park but is a safer area compared to outskirts.

Being a city centre the market closes early in the evening & there are no malls around. There is a Casino within the hotel itself which is open until early morning & is a good place to hang around. The rooms are clean, Air cooled (not A/C) which was fine during my stay, clean bathrooms. The restaurant is a decent one with the Kenyan Chef trying to prepare all dishes (including Indian).

The biggest draw back is that there is no room service which is atleast expected from a 3 Star hotel in Nairobi City Centre since even for a cup of tea you've to go to the coffee shop or restaurant. They even don't have a Tea Maker in the room. Also, I don't know for what reason but they collected cash (or card) for each service (restaurant, laundry, etc.) and were not ready to add up in the final bill. Due to this, you always need sufficient forex in pocket.

For me even though the hotel's location was good, rooms were clean & there was free unlimited wifi, it is a NO unless they start room service & have some other amenities like fitness center, etc. The service within the restaurant & bar though was good.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are better since then you get a view beyond the neighboring buildings.

I last rated this hotel in late 2009 and am impressed with how much it has improved. Internet is now free and wireless reliable, depending on room. The rooms have been modernized, with improved bathrooms. There is still no air conditioning, but most rooms have an "air cooler" dehumidifier/fan unit. If you don't have one, they can move one to your room. More modern reading lighting over beds, and in general a much more clean and professional atmosphere throughout. Each floor has an attentive security guard who logs all comings and goings. I felt the hotel was much better than in the past. Food still mediocre.

Room Tip: Check the WiFi signal on your device as you walk the halls before agreeing on a room. WiFi signals...

We went there for a night-out (to surrounding entertainment spots then slept in the hotel). There is a casino but we are not good at gambling. The hotel is reasonably priced at $100 per Kenyan couple (incl breakfast). The room felt old with a useless balcony (no nice views) that is enclosed with glass. The diner closes too early so have dinner elsewhere first. The breakfast was quite hearty with various breads/cakes, fruits, juices and yoghurt. Given the price, this is quite a bargain. However, the dining room felt veeery aged and uninviting.

Room Tip: First check that the door access cards are working and the beds are not dusty, our first room had is...

The hotel is centrally located and saves you a lot when you are doing business in town as you can walk over to most places. The rooms are spacious but very ordinary and because i came there in September the weather was quite cool (too cold for some) so there's no need for air-conditioning. Nice but small bathrooms but ever fresh toiletries every morning.
The staff were ok (because a typical Nigerian like myself would've bitten their heads off for any arrogance anyway)...but the fun starts in the evening with the 'Wicked' all-night parties that goes on opposite the hotel. I never ate even breakfast at the hotel, so i dont know about their food, as i always prefer the typical Kenyan coffee shops. In all, a lovely place for a business traveler with a grooving spirit.
Will definitely stay there again if on business...but not with my family though.

Room Tip: Chose the last floor
