“Pleasant stays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

The Ole Sereni hotel is decorated in a nice African style that goes with the surroundings of the savanna's right outside the frontterrace. From which I have spotted giraffes, ostriches, buffalos and gazelles, not to mention a crane or two, i.e. the bird.

The food in the restaurant and/or bar is very good, whether it be asian, indian or a simple hamburger, and what's more, pleasantly priced!

The rooms are nice, clean, with a good, hot shower, one drawback, the beds are quite hard, but to alleviate this they can put on a comforter kind of thin mattress, which works, but of course you need to request this from housekeeping.

The gym is nice and airy, well equipped. Pity they charge approx. 15 euro's for the sauna and steamroom. Everywhere else this is usually free.

All in all a nice, quiet place, away from the bustle of the city, right on the edge of the national park, with a great view of the plains to the west.

Last but not least, the hotel staff is very friendly and forthcoming.

Room Tip: Right above the terraces you might hear some noise from the people down below. Higher up or on the e...

Really good breakfast. Quite luxurious rooms with ostentatious and not that tasteful decor. Probably overpriced but Kenya Airways picked up the tab.... Not far from the airport if you need to kill some time and a decent chance of spotting a giraffe over your morning croissant.

This Hotel is absolutely to advise! Great Staff! They are all so lovely and polite.
You have the opportunity to face in the park either from your room or from all Restaurants or Bars. You have a big assortment of foods and drinks on each bar, restaurant or on your room. You can also have a great time in the park which is in front of the Hotel, sometimes you also can see the animals from the Hotel. The Gym and the Spa are also excellent and on the highest level! There is also free WLAN on every place in the Hotel, which is great either for work or for privacy. The Hotel is only 10-15 mins away from the airport it depends on the traffic. In spite of the closeness you`ll never feel disturbed from any riots!
I was here for 5 weeks due to business, I enjoyed every single day and can honestly advise this Hotel to everybody. Either for business trips or for vacation. It`s absolutely great! I will come again for sure!

This hotel is underrated by mostly overnighters. This hotel location is perfert after a 7 day safari. It is ideally located between the airport, downtown CDB, and town of Karen, a popular tourist spot. Great customer service, good breakfast, barely acceptable Kebab Night dining, but good Sunday Brunch. Reasonably-priced gift shops with many selections. You must learn to avoid the weekday traffic jams. Only comment is for the traveler here without a car. The hotel car services is much too high with little alternative provided. But i was able to find outside cab service for half their price. Otherwise, our three nights here in the Club rooms facing the national park was comforting and relaxing versus the big city hotels. Good discounting hotel pricing through hotel internet sites for this hotel.

Room Tip: overall four star

If it wasn't for the awful customer service in this hotel I'd be sorely tempted to return as the food was great and the hotel was quite stunning. It faces the national park, authentic interior and at night it's quite a chilled ''hotspot''. We were on our way to the airport and stopped off for a few drinks and a meal. It took about 20mins to get a drink and we had about 5 different servers come up and not return with what we asked for. We even asked for a candle at one point which never appeared.

Our red wine was served in sherry glasses which we found very odd but the steak and the calamari were really excellent and judging by the food we saw on other tables this is a good kitchen. shame about the service as other tables also waited some time to get a menu, order taken and drinks.

Tip - be firm if you decide to visit!

Good:
If you need to stay near the Jomo airport, especially when you have an early flight, I recommend this hotel. It serves nice room, wonderful breakfast. It takes just 15 min to the airport, so that you don't need to worry about the traffic.

Bad:
If you are interested in Nairobi city, I'm not pretty sure because this hotel is located in out of the city center. Moreover, hotel taxi was too expensive! Don't take the taxi from this hotel. It will charge you $30 only for 15 min drive to the airport. Totally ripping you off.
And a lot of airport guys will rush to you when they saw you are in the Ole Sereni taxi for asking tips as a return of 30 sec work. If you get to know local taxi, you better get the drivers number.

Room Tip: Hotel price is quite different by website up to $100. You'd better compare prices all the websit...

The location of the hotel is close to the airport and away from the citycenter. Very good for early/late flights! The surroundings are quiet and you might get a look at some wild animals from the restaurant if you are lucky!
The breakfast is the best I have experienced in Nairobi and I only wished that I'd more time to eat before my departure.
The room was clean, with own fridge and new bathroom.
The restaurant was fantastic, what a great service and food. I was impressed! During the service there was a band playing and I enjoyed it a lot as they played with good volume, which is great as it is a bit common for bands to play to loud!

Only concern was that the bed was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, please add soft madrases and I will be back!

Room Tip: As for a room facing the gamepark!
