“The perfect choice for your stay in Nairobi!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We recently stayed at the Ole Sereni hotel in Kenya following a friend’s recommendation and the entire experience was fantastic! The hotel itself is conveniently located for the airport, downtown Nairobi, as well as many well-known attractions, such as the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage, the giraffe sanctuary, the Kazuri bead factory, Masai markets and the former home, now museum of Karen Blixen. The hotel itself is completely unique, being situated on the edge of a Game Reserve yet within a capital city. We had a room facing out to the national park, which was very pleasant, with wonderful views of a myriad of animals in their natural environment. The hotel has excellent security, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the décor relaxing and elegant with a subtle African theme. We particularly enjoyed the fine artwork that can be found throughout the hotel and the grounds. The pool and terraces are stunning – the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a gin and tonic while watching the game. The facilities such as the gym and health club are also first-rate - which is a good thing because the food is so good a daily trip to the gym is obligatory! The breakfast was included with our room rate and was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had. We dined on several occasions at the award-winning hotel restaurant and were always impressed. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone planning to stay in Nairobi – you would be hard pressed to find a better all-round hotel in this city than the Ole Sereni.

For the second time in three weeks we transited through Nairobi. This time we were only 15 minutes from the airport. This hotel is modern, bustling and has a good bar/restaurant choice. Dont go to downtown Nairobi if you are just overnighting, stay here, with the bonus of overlooking the nairobi wildlife park so the animals can be viewed from your hotel room!

Room Tip: Try for a wildlife park view

I stayed here for a total of 7 nights over three stays whilst holidaying in Kenya. I thought the location by the park was excellent, the fact you aren't in the centre of the city and near the airport is a real plus. The staff were always friendly and the hotel gym is probably the best I have seen in a hotel anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Try for the fourth floor park facing.

Stayed here for two nights and thought it was fantastic! From my experience none of the previous bad reviews seem pertinent to this hotel.

We were greeted from the airport by a very friendly lady, check in was fast and we were in our rooms freshening up within 45 minutes of picking up our bags from the luggage carousel.

The room with a view over the park was fantastic at sunset. We weren't lucky enough to see any game though. The beds were comfortable and despite there being large group outside at the bar, I hardly heard a noise once I closed the balcony doors.

We experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and the food was excellent, decent portion sizes and at a reasonable price. The bars, indoor and outdoor were very pleasant, and the staff were quick to ensure that our glasses weren't empty for a moment longer than we wanted them to be!

To try to find a negative point, I'd say that sometimes the staff could be a litte abrupt but it certainly didn't inhibit the delivery of their service. Asking for an ironing board, the receptionist had hung up before I'd finished saying thank you but it arrived within 5 minutes so can't really complain.

I didn't use the gym but my friends did and said it was better stocked and more modern than most hotel gyms they've used in the past and I've been to some good ones with them in the past.

Overall its a beautiful hotel, stunning views over the national park, great food, good service and I'd highly recommend it.

Our flight was delayed out of London so we missed our connecting flight out of Nairobi. Bummer, right? No, not really. British Air put us up in this beautifully decorated first class hotel which borders the Nairobi National Wildlife Park. Smallish rooms, but well appointed, enjoyed a glass of wine on the balcony and breakfast the next morning was great. Easy transport to the airport in the morning... All in all a pleasant surprise.

Stayed at this property during an overnight while waiting on a flight. Room was well appointed and service was excellent. I was mt a the airport by hotel taff andwas transported efficiently to the hotel. Arrangement of transport back to the airport was effortless and handled professionally. The only shortcoming was that the hotel check-out was handled slowly and took almost 25 minutes to complete, depite there being just a few people checking out at the time. However, overall it was quite an excellent experience.

Only good things about this hotel are the proximity to Kenyatta airport and the buffet breakfast. Prices are exorbitant, staff was neither helpful nor friendly (other than Benson the bellman), rooms are small and beds are very, very uncomfortable. The "balconies" of the view rooms are tiny and sliding doors do not open. Given the number of better hotels in Nairobi, I won't stay here again"
