“Orphaned Elephant Redoubt”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Great to see especially if you won't get a chance to see ellies in the wild. If you do, you might be disappointed as it's a bit commercial (the baby elephnats wear blankets to keep them warm) and your shots will be full of other people. Still interesting to hear how each elephnat came to this center.

If you miss the 11 AM feeding (until 12 PM) you will need to pay $50 (for two) to put the elephants to bed at 4. But there are then less people.

“Elephant Orphanage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Very close, even touching, encounter with orphaned baby elephants. Each elephant had his or her caretaker. The dedication and knowledge of the caretakers is beyond compare. A must see!

“Epic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Great people trying to take care of orphaned elephants. Would like to know more about the model and where the money goes, buy you can sponsor the baby elephants that are mostly taken in from random places where their parents have been killed by poachers.

“Must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Every time I visit Nairobi I make a trip to the orphanage. It is truly inspiring to see the dedication and love of the keepers and the Sheldricks for these orphaned elephants. The Trust is making a difference in the lives of animals and educating the world about the horrors of poaching and habitat destruction.

“David Sheldrick's elephants - Olifanten Weeshuis”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

It's okay to go here, but not very cheap.
The varetakers parade the elephants out, you can stand around the open space where they feed them, on 3 sides.
The problem is if it is busy, usually let too many people in, you can not see much. Also I have not seen any paying people feeding the elephants and they do advertise that ...
Good cause, badly carried out.

If you have a choice go to AFEW Giraffe Center.

Aardig als je olifanten wil zien op een afstandje.
Als het druk is kom je echt niet dichtbij.
Goede zaak dat het er is, niet zo' n beste touristische uitvoering vind ik.
Ga liever naar de Giraffes!
