“Good service in a spectacular setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I had a great lunch at the Norfolk hotel.

The service was swift and friendly from the moment we walked in.
The quality of the food was good as well as the setting.

The Hotel within with which the restaurant resides is very well put together and very well designed.

The valet service is a tad slow thought, but that may be due to Nairobi traffic.

“Soulless.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

It might have been just us but the place was just soulless. the nibbles were very good and the drinks (cocktails) were very well made. but it because of the lack of atmosphere this place loses out.
I would say it was not helped by a load of Americans trying to sell something to the dean of the university. All very odd. The grounds also seem to have nothing of the old charm

“Lost some of its character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

Whilst still being a lovely hotel the re fit and modernisation has taken away some of the character of the original hotel. We stayed in the old hotel years ago where you got a much greater feel of the history of the place whilst still enjoying modern facilities. It's all a bit too swish and business orientated now. Building work noise by the pool was bad. Good hotel but not special enough to pay the extra and return.

“Doesn't deliver at this price range”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

This is a fine hotel, though not worth the prices they charge. And they charge for everything. Service is uneven. Some staff go the extra distance while others seem bored. Service by the pool is particularly easy going. The breakfast buffet - again not cheap - is served until 1000 though it seems staff stop replenishing things about 0900. We had to ask three times for a glass. Overall, for a hotel charging $300+ a night, it falls short of the mark. There is nothing wrong here, but I didn't get the impression that they were trying all that hard.
