“A wonderful setting, Great Service, good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This a great place to have a nice lunch in a shaded, relaxed setting while you are visiting the Karen Blixen Museum, the Elephant orphanage or the Giraffe Center in Karen, Kenya. The menu is varied and features mostly continental type cuisine. Don't expect ethic Kenya fare. The service was friendly and efficient. The drink selection was good. We had local beer (Tusker and a glass of wine). They also had free wifi access. This was a great break while visiting the local attractions. You can visit their website at: http://www.karenblixencoffeegarden.com.

“Knock your socks off ice cream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Maybe it was because I just finished climbing Kilimanjaro the day before, but the meal I had at the restaurant was spectacular. The starter soup was the BEST I'd ever had. The Zanzibar fish, despite an enticing description, was so-so, but the coconut and brandy ice cream was the best I'd ever had! And there is no competition for coffee. Simply the best. Fantastic meal and casual atmosphere. - Although I was travelling solo, I could see it as great for business meetings. The service was incredibly attentive.

“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

On my one day off I went into the game park followed by lunch at the Resturant. Excellent greeting, very safe and lovely gardens. Food was excellent and a lot of choice. I had a home made burger which was excellent. Well priced. I would have no hesitation in going there again and can't wait to go back

“A lovely local restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

I have been eating at Tamambo since they opened, and as a couple we have lovely memories of having our wedding night dinner/drinks there -- 13 years ago! Much has not changed over the years - lovely mature gardens, good food, good decor, and friendly service. I think the interior decor is starting to look beaten with years and it could be brighten up just a little. It is certainly my children's favourite for lunch or dinner. We have taken friends and family there and they all love it -- but the prices have been rising fairly quickly. Keep up the good service.

“Almost perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

One of my favourite and regular watering holes. We have Sunday lunch there. This week I had fish and asked for it 'soft cooked' and it was perfect, so was the rice, so was the service, and it was busy. The men had the Sunday roast buffet and curry which they rave about every week. The setting is idyllic and for those who love Karen Blixen's 'Out of Africa' (the book, not the film) it is full of folk lore, romance and history. We also often go with our IT consultants for a slide in the Sports Bar (six little hamburgers) and the calamari are good too and we watch some sport as they are addicted to screans. However, However, today I took an old lady friend from childhood who has had a stroke. We are well known and get the royal treatment. But the service was slow and I felt we were side lined after the initial welcome. I had the same meal but the fish, although perfectly edible was a little overcooked. It wasn't that busy and the waiters never waited and never scanned and spent a lot of time in huddles discussing tables! Odd but still highly to be recommended as it is usually great and a lovely environment (in or out) and some well behaved kids and a couple of house doggies - so a great sense of cosiness in style
