“Yaya has the best food court so far”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Yaya Center has a lot of high end stores that are very expensive and so my main reason for visiting the mall is for the food. The food court, or rather the Food Loft as it is called, has a very unique set of three main cuisines: Italian, Indian and Chinese. So far I have tried the Indian and Chinese and the food has been exceptional and affordable. What is even more appealing is the fact that you don't have all these waiters throwing menus at you and pressuring you to order something as they wait over your head just like it is at many food courts in Nairobi. The service is restaurant style in a casual setting. It really works!

“All the mod cons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

It's a shopping center - which is not typically a place I would seek out, except that it was right next to my hotel and it had some lovely places to eat. I had 2 meals at "Java" - a chain of coffee shops throughout the city - and they were remarkably good.

There are also some very nice small stores plus a small Woolworth's on the first (second to us Americans) floor. The small grocery there was OK, not great, with stale baked goods and relatively high prices.

“Chinese Restaurant Yaya Centre Food Court”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Anyone visiting Yaya Centre in Nairobi should head for the Chinese Restaurant on the 2nd Floor food court. The food is generally excellent and quickly prepared. With the arrival of more mainland Chinese the 'standard' menu is being extended to include more unusual dishes. Ask for the Chinese Rice Pudding - delicious chinese dessert made of sticky rice, raisins, dates, nuts etc. Recommended.

“Convenient shopping mall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Yaya centre is a good size mall popular with locals and expats. The mall has a good selection of shops that cover a broad range of products: fresh produce, clothing, sporting goods, shoes, leather products, chemists, bookshop with a very large variety of books on Africa, and local curios. You can even find shop selling musical instruments. Service providers cover banking, travel, unisex beauty parlor, mobile phone services. Food court on second floor with italian, indian, and chinese; bakery and coffee shops. The mall feels secure and appears to be well run. Stores open everyday. Masai market on Sundays. Got there by hotel taxi but parking seems to be adequate with outdoor and basement parking, automated ticketing.
