“Not worth it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

Before the establishment of other great high end restaurants. Tamarind was a good place to go for good food and service. It is located in the CBD which makes it a hassle to get to. The food is good, not great. Service has always been excellent. It is very pricey thou.

“Worth visiting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

Excellent restaurant for a special meal without it costing a fortune.

The staff offer nice touches like subtly taking your names then piping them onto the plates with your desert and expertly placing your personalised plate in front of you. It's corny but it shows a level of attention that does the restaurant proud.

Oh...and the food's great too!

“Great night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

We held a business dinner at the Tamarind, and we all loved our food. I would have to say this is the best meal I have had in Nairobi so far. It is quite pricey. The ambience is a little old fashioned, but I would not describe this place as an Aladdin's cave. It is in the city centre which makes it really convenient if you are staying at the Hilton or the Intercontinetal.

As a nice touch they served us a small sweet dish at the end of the meal, each plate personalised with our name and a small message. It was kinda fun!

I would have no hestiation in recomending this Resturant if you looking for good food to enjoy with good company.

“Best City Seafood in East Africa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

We braved the 2 hour crazy traffic of Nairobi and were hungry to bits and way too late for our 7:30 reservation. It was worth It!! My boyfriend and I were meeting in Nairobi and I wanted to take him somewhere special and both of us being great fans of seafood, I zeroed on Tamarind. The service, the food, the extra effort taken by the manager to make us have a most special dinner was unforgettable. So was the bill. $300, that's no joke but, like I said - it was worth it!!

“A must visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

A delightful cruise around the bay (the sea was too rough to leave the bay) accompanied by a very good band. The food was delicious and plentiful I had the lobster which was lovely and filling. It is a treat, however check the wine prices before you order. A bottle of ordinary Chardonnay cost the equivalent of £50 and we bought 2 bottles! The profit is in the drink.
