“Excellent Hotel - Felt very safe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Nairobi has a reputation for being a little unsafe for the "mazoongu" traveller so I was really relieved when we arrived to see that security was very tight and once inside the big gates I felt extremely safe. The food in the restaurant was exceptional with chefs cooking meals in front of you to your taste. Lovely pool area and very modern decor throughout. Great if you are looking for the 5 star experience.

The hotel also has a couple of bars for you to enjoy and the staff a very helpful for arranging transport or tours etc. There is also a big Nakumart supermarket and boutique shops 100 metres away which is very convenient.

Rooms are beautiful but not very big. If you are travelling with family definitely look at a larger than standard room.

I stayed one night at the tribe. When I checked in, they confirmed that the rate was for bed and breakfast, and I joked back, "bed only, I will be leaving before your serve breakfast". The receptionist offered to make sure that night cook would make me a breakfast to go. I take 15 early bird flights every year and no one has ever offered to give me breakfast to go.

I got a room on the ground floor (one floor below the reception) and it was a duplex. I thought that was pretty cool. Spacious room. Good internet.

I had the salmon at the restaurant by the pool. It was fresh and tasty. Service was good. I then went up to the bar called the nest, and that is where everyone was. it was very busy.

I've stayed several places in Nairobi and Tribe is my favorite. The rooms are modern and beautiful and the staff is there for you 24/7. I really love the indoor/outdoor concept. Perfect for Kenya. The Nest (hookah on the roof) is one of my favorite spots.

The staff is super and the amenities are very nice. It's a beautiful hotel and they focus on customer service. The location is adjacent to a major mall, with a great food court and some fantastic shops, so it's very convenient. The only drawbacks are the very slow Internet (strange in a country that prides itself as a major IT hub for Africa), and the apparent dislike for air conditioning below about 74 degrees--I had to ask on several occasions when the air conditioner seemed to refuse to cool the room.

Room Tip: The corner room I had was small, but sufficient--others (and I'm not sure how they laid them out...

This is a unique hotel. It's one of those boutique hotels that you would expect to find in the Alps or Colorado. The rooms are modern and the amenities are exceptional. I also received exceptional service. Note that I was also the very first paying guest in this hotel the day that it opened a few years back. It's improved considerably since.

I have stayed at the Tribe Hotel on numerous occasions and they keep disappointing considering the costs of the rooms here. As one of the high end Nairobi hotels, I would think they would try to improve their property. The wifi still remain dismal, electrical outlets in the room are sparse and often out of order. The rooms are quickly getting worn but seems like updates are few and far between. The best staff there are the gentlemen at bell desk as they are attentive and seem to know the guests, which is more than I can say for the desk staff. The breakfast is average and the rest of the hotel food menu is unremarkable. I keep hoping they will improve but I haven't seen any indication that they will.

Short business stay but, cannot say enough about the staff and the service they provide. Clean and comfortable. Only drawback was the spotty internet which can cause some issues when you absolutely need a reliable connection.
