“African food made real good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

Ranalo Foods has earned it's name from the great food that's served hot from the kitchen and the quick service from the ever busy waitstaff. What is impressive is the wide array of meals which are prepared with little spice and still maintain the natural flavors. I guess it feels like eating at home, away from home. Definitely a must-visit food joint.

“Great African Cusine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

Great African dishes.A good location for lunch for those within town. The fish tastes wonderful and there's a variety of veges prepared traditionally.

“Place to go if you want good traditional Kenyan food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

Stopped for a quick lunch at Ranolo foods with a friend. We ordered Chicken, chapati, Ugali, Sukuma, and Tilapia. There is an outdoor seating area. Service was great. You pay for your meal, as soon as you walk into the restaurant. The food was tasty, and they had other dishes like Millet ugali, and some other vegetable dishes. It gets very busy. Our bill came to 1000 shillings. They do a takeaway service too.

Best fried fish in town - local bands and the best bar in Nairobi.Right opposite Stanley hotel, this bar plays amazing music and is really friendly.I often go alone and always feel welcome and don't get hassled by prostitutes

“Roast fish, ugali, fiery piri piri, great music, a perfect Friday night joint.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2011

This place is not fancy. It is partly roof-top and partly enclosed. Come for the fish - it is great.

Eat with your hands. Drink a couple of beers and dance to the energetic music. This place serves Western Kenyan style food and serves as the local hangout for Western Kenyans in Nairobi. The musicians may be also Western Kenyan or Congolese. This is a great place for bringing a group of folks for a casual night out.

I have also eaten there during the day. The vibe is different but the food is still good, fresh, and cheap. Lots of luyha and luo business men enjoying a home-style cooked meal and local workers grabbing a quick hearty lunch.

Don't come here expecting table service, or refinement. This is not the place for that! Do come if you want to dance and feast on roast fish.
