This place had lovely grounds and a gorgeous big house. Unfortunately we did not stay in the big house, we stayed in a small cell like room.
Liked: the grounds. The included breakfast was very good. There were lockers to store your valubles, so take a lock with you, not sure if you could hire locks. Good list of tours to do, although the one we did was quite expensive and not too good. Our driver though was excellent. I regret not doing the slum tour. Clean and good facilities. The compound felt safe. Meet some very interesting travellers and researchers here.
Didn't like: We couldn't lock our door and was told by the current receptionist at the time, his name is Justice, that it would be fixed shortly...well in our two night stay it never was! So we felt very weary and stressed about what to leave in the room, and not everything valuable fitted in the lockers. I'm sure the staff are trustworthy but we were quite close to a gate and the outside wall. The owners were away at the time so i'm not sure if it is always like this. Justice also could be a little stand offish and seemed annoyed when asked any questions. The tour we did was somewhat good, we visited the giraffe centre ( highly recommend) but the Karen blixen museum was not so good and the guy there did not really know what he was talking about. The first half of the day was good bit the second half quite boring. It was really expensive too. And the last part if the tour, a visit to a craft factory was closed. When we told Justice this he begrudgingly gave some of the money back to us... He was not very happy about it which made us feel very awkward.
Apart from these things it was a nice place to stay in Narobi and relax in the grounds. It was clean and cheap, what more can you ask for?
