“Beautiful, quiet setting away from hectic Nariobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

I booked two nights at the Wildebeest Eco Camp after getting a recommendation on this site, and reading the reveiws. I was not disappointed.

We stayed in one of the deluxe tents on the grounds of the camp. The tents are tastefully decorated with modern bathroom fixtures. Inside they look like the room in a 4-5 star hotel.

I also like the beutiful landscaping of the grounds. There are lots of mature trees and scrubs as well as flowers.

The camp has a real laid-back vibe. People gather on the patio in the eveing for dinner and conversation, and to use the free wi-fi.

There are no TV's in the tents, but t here is a guest lounge with a big screen TV with many cable channels. We did not spend much time there, but like the idea of having access to a TV if necessary.

They also have a tent that is set up with handicrafts that can be purchased and added to your hotel room. I did not buy anything, but saw some interesting items that were reasonably priced.

The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Which was also a plus. Additionally, there is a 24 hour guard, so safety was never an issue.

We liked staying at Wildebeest so much that we booked an additional day at the end of our two weeks to stay there the night before departing back to the US.

Overall, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Wildebeest Eco Camp. I would surely recommned it to others wanting a different option than a basic hotel room.

Room Tip: Book the deluxe tent well in advance of your dates as there are only a few and they sell out fast...

“Nice setting but rude front of house staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

This place is set in a nice quiet area outside if Nairobi. The delux tents are very nice inside and some of them have a great view over the water. Nicely decorated throughout although the kids toys scattered all over the path ruined it for me slightly. Biggest downside for us though were the very rude front of house staff who greet you on arrival. They had a big ego which is unusal for local staff, normally they can't do enough to help. Here they made us feel like we were disturbing them when we tried to enquire about anything.

Room Tip: If you stay in a delux tent, try and get one of the first ones from the bar area overlooking the wat...

“Great welcome to our holiday in Kenya”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We stayed here in September 2012 as the first stop on an eight day trip in Kenya for three of us (one of us had been back-packing and so liked the option to camp rather than stay in one of the prepared tents). As we were renting a vehicle it's location wasn't a problem but it does take a little time to get to which you should bear in mind. (this problem will be relieved when the new roads around Nairobi are complete as it passes near by and will make life easier!) we found the camp very friendly and helpful letting us leave our bags securely whilst we went shopping before we were due to check in. The camp is very tranquil and the addition of a pool will make it even more so. All the rooms were clean, cool and felt very secure with a lockbox and the gated security. The showers and washrooms were functional and to a good standard. (I have stayed in hotels where you pay far more and get far worse) From a purely subjective point of view we found the beds hard but that is purely personal preference and they cannot be faulted for this. Otherwise the camp had everything that we could have needed and had been promised. On leaving we were given very helpful advice on the routes we needed to take and timings.

Room Tip: If wary of the communal washrooms there are ensuite tents that look very comfortable but do cost mor...

“Don't hesitate one bit to stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

A couple of friends and I are backpacking from Cairo to Capetown and Nairobi was one of our stops. We decided to give this place a try due to the great reviews and Wildebeest did not disappoint. We stayed in the dorms here mostly and spent one night in the luxury group tent. The dorms only cost about 14 USD a person, which is a great price for a place of this quality. First off, this place is beautiful. There are numerous amounts of flowers, plants, and trees scattered throughout. The people, the owners are both very nice people. The bathrooms and dorms are cleaned daily. The security here is very high, never once did I feel like my things would be stolen. The food is very good, breakfast is included, and fairly priced for the city. The taxi's are a bit on the high end but for the price of the rooms, it evens out. The only issue about this place is that it is quite far from the city center. A taxi ride to the city center from Wildebeest will down you about 1500 schillings, but if you go with multiple people or don't have a big need to go to the city center, its not a big deal. The location is good in my opinion because it is off the road, which means it is safer than most places, and it is close to the Galleria, which is a pretty big mall where you can buy groceries or other daily essential needs. They even have a bookstore there! Overall, this place is amazing! I would definitely recommend this place and when I come back, I will definitely stay here! They are planning to build a pool soon so hopefully that will be installed soon!

Room Tip: Dorms are the cheapest but if your a light sleeper, then I wouldn't recommend it because some pe...

“Quiet place in Nairobi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

On our last day in Kenia we stayed at the Wildebeest camp to leave the next day back home. The place is recently been located to this site and everything was still somewhat under construction. Nevertheless the tent we slept in was spacious, the beds were comfortable and the shower and toilet area was very clean. The dinner was very nice and the camp is set in a beautiful area where you dont even feel like you are in a big city. Definitely worth to stay here!
