“A quiet retreat in the green heart of Nairobi.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2011

We needed a quiet place near the centre of Nairobi for a rest after the long flights and to attend to some pre safari commitments such as buying supplies and other matters.
We chanced upon this place and were not disappointed. Booking by Email was straightforward and the Airport meet and greet worked well despite the early hour.
We arrived way ahead of official check in time but they did their best to make us comfortable until the room/tents were ready.
A very well managed place and very accommodating. Food was excellent and Beer supplies seemed inexhaustable. There was a good supermarket within walking distance for our Safari supplies although we used a car to pick up the bulk of this.
There is a 'resident' car driver available and we booked him for the day for all the errands.
Our tents were large enough and extrmely comfortable. It was like being on Safari already without the bumpy roads.
Definitely one to return to although there is news that they are building another place a bit further out.

Room Tip: There are two styles of permanent tent. Take a De Luxe with ensuite for a 1,000 Ksh more. Well worth...

My husband and I stayed at the Wildebeest Camp as part of our 5 week honeymoon in Africa.
We stayed in a basic room for 1 night, and the other 2 nights we camped out in a tent on their grounds. We had a fantastic stay. The owners are great, they employ some locals from Kenya that are very kind, and helpful. The food is amazing. There is a tented outdoor area where you can lounge on some day beds and watch movies, there are games and books to look through, and they can arrange tours for you. We took a day trip to the Shelrick elephant orphanage, it was one of the highlights of our trip.

We walked into Nairobi from the camp, it is about a 15 minute walk, there is no danger, just be aware of your surroundings and where your money is, and do walk around during the day.

Wildebeest Camp is a fab place to stay in Kenya!

Stayed here for a few nights. A brilliant place to stay - owners friendly and service an asset. Food good and was like being part of a big family. Very tidy and clean. Dissapointed on day I left as a mess up was made with my booking. No compensation offered which I felt would have been welcomed.

We stayed here for 7 nights with our two children. We were working in Kibera during the day, and coming back to this piece of paradise was wonderful. Open land in Nairobi can be hard to come by and the yard and courtyard at the Wildebeest are lovely.

We stayed in the permanent tents without bathrooms. They were spacious and the beds very comfortable. We are traveling back next August and will probably upgrade to the ensuite tent.

The Australian owners, their adorable children and grandparents, and the staff (love Justice, Daniel and everyone else) made us feel like we were part of the family.

The food was terrific. Great omelets and pancakes for breakfast and fabulous coffee. The dinners were also tasty and very well priced.

They are expanding and opening a 2nd location in Nairobi which will be even more spacious on 3 acres of land. Can't wait to see it!

We loved staying at one of Wildebeest Camp's tents with fully equipped bathroom close to downtown Nairobi.

Staff were really helpful. Special thanks to Dan and to Charlie the fearless driver.

Room Tip: Plan ahead during peak season because they get booked up quickly

8 of us stayed here on either side of our safari trip. My husband and I stayed in the deluxe tent that had it's own full bathroom. Another couple stayed in a Garden tent. I would recommend splurging for your own bathroom. The tent was large and in good condition. We had some issues with our shower not draining, but that was quickly rectified.

The owner Lynita was super nice and we enjoyed talking with her. The camp even stored some luggage for us that we didn't need for the safari. The included breakfast was good and the evening meals were great and worth the small extra price.
We loved our stay!

This was our first stop in Nairobi, the garden tents give a very nice atmosphere, they are spacious, very clean, and even with a safe, it is like a hotel room with the flair of a camp, the shared bathroom and showers were always very clean, the common areas also nice and spacious, the staff very friendly. We booked a trip to the Maasai Mara with them and everything went perfect, though our driver 'Steve' was an arrogant unpolite 'ranger' we saw the amazing beautis of the Maasai Mara and came back to stay there our last night. The staff arranged our tickets to Kampala, and taxi to the bus, everything went very smoothly, if I was to come back to Nairobi, I would definetely stay with them! It is very close to the national park, to a lot of sights, and you are not in the city, the super market and mall are close by, you can walk there and it is safe, even if walking on the street the first day is a bit somber.

Room Tip: Garden tents are great!
