“TOTALLY DIFFERENT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2011

This is one of my favorite hotels in Luxor and it's in my opinion one of the best design hotels in all Egypt. It is located on the West Bank, close to the Valley of the Kings.

It is highly recommended for:
- Honeymooners.
- Travellers who would like to enjoy a memorable stay away from the crowd of Luxor.
- Travellers who enjoy staying at authentic boutique hotels, rather than big standard chain hotels.

Each room or suite is designed differently with real (or half real) antique furniture. Walls are hand-painted with oriental motives and patterns. The swimming pool area is quiet and relaxing. One of the best moments is having breakfast while listening to the birds singing. Very romantic!

It’s a unique charming hotel full of oriental details.

A perfect retreat during our trip to Egypt; quiet and relaxing. Interesting architecturally, loved the way the buildiings were laid out and decorated. Our room was huge and airy with an enormous and very comfortable bed. Lovely gardens and pool with plenty of loungers and shade. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and very friendly. Slight drawback is the location which for dinner means eating in or getting a 20 minute taxi ride to Luxor, The food is ok, somewhat international in character, not very exciting.

The feeling of spaciousness was a wonderful antidote to the noise and persistent attention we experienced in Luxor. We would definitely return to the hotel and are very happy to recommend it.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed very good

There's a visual treat every way you look during your stay at the Al Moudira Hotel. The decor is consistent and varied; the colours work well and the staff are there to help. I am so delighted we found this place and enjoyed everywhere our heads turned.
Our room was generous in size with a gorgeous domed ceiling; bay seating area and spacious bathroom.
The location is well out of Luxor town but if you can afford the hotel you can surely afford the taxis. Besides it's Luxor and you are not missing any nightlife!
The breakfast and evening meals were well presented and served. If I had a complaint it was that the hot food was warm but I say this to set a reasonable expectation. You'll not regret staying here, and you'll remember it as a peaceful beautiful place. And even one of the best looking hotels anywhere.

The beauty of this place - the ochre arches, grand courtyards & trelisses covered in tumbling bougainvillea - makes it one of the world's great, architecturally remarkable hotels: and it is currently affordable. Revisiting in Sepember 2011, the tourism figures in Luxor as a whole are down, for no good reason: post-revolutionary Egypt is incredibly safe. But the Moudira continues to operate as an absolute flagship for perfect standards, with delicious food, suroundings that most of us can only dream of, and a seemless management. I would live here if I could. This is the perfect refuge from an ugly world, or for couples the dream honeymoon destination, and the staff are incredibly kind & protective & can organise anything for you, from a pedicure to a deep desert safari. The owner, Madame Zeina, is a kind of Middle Eastern Olga Polizzi - totally profesional & clued-up, and always happy to interact with her clients. A gorgeous place, brilliantly managed. (And hello & thanks to Hamdi..)

Room Tip: all the roooms are beautiful, with Nubian arches & limwash stencils - even the cheapest room is...

I am part of a private archeological company where we do work in the Valley of the Kings. I have gotten to know Egypt pretty well and I will not stay anywhere else in Luxor! Many of the other high rated Hotels are located right in the heart of Luxor where it is loud, the traffic is terrible, and people will try to get you to buy things as soon as you leave the hotel. Don't get me wrong, that's part of the cultural beauty of Egypt that I miss when I'm home, but if you really want an escape from all of that, the Al Mourdira is the place to be.

The last time I was there, I stayed for 2 weeks. I really got to know the staff and the owner, all who were extremely nice and helpful. They made a real effort to get to know myself and my team and it was really appreciated especially when they accommodated our early 5AM schedule for breakfast.

The Restaurant has an open air area or a closed area and the food is awesome! Since I was there for so long, I got to sample a little of everything and everything was amazing. I was never disappointed.

The rooms have a complete Egyptian style that is luxurious and spacious. It is very quiet because it is set in a very small village.
The only downfall is that there is nothing within walking distance. That is minor problem compared to how much this is a diamond in the ruff.

I love this place! I am hoping to go back to it soon because it is my favorite place on Earth for sure! Stay here!

This was my third stay at Al Moudira , was so glad to find it just as wonderful as my first visit five years ago. Same wonderful staff from the top to the bottom, friendly efficient. An Oasis in an otherwise hotel desert of sameness. The food and wonderful rooms are still the best, one of the trully wonderful 'Hotels of the World'.

Congratulations to you all.
Gary R Topping.

Room Tip: Rooms are large beautifully decoarated and well airconditioned when needed.
