“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

In 20 years of visiting Luxor this is one of the few hotels I have not stayed in but I visit it regularly.
It is a lovely hotel and worth it's rating! It is a little dated in it's looks but that is perfect for Luxor and I would have it no other way. By dated I mean it has an old-fashioned charm; it is in no way run-down or tired, on the contrary; it is immaculately clean and stunning!
A beautifully decorated and plush bar area, lovely restaurants and the pool area is FABULOUS! I really can't speak highly enough of the service and style of this hotel. It is a wee bit out of the way from the centre of Luxor but Luxor is a small town and walking anywhere is both an adventure and a pleasure!

Nice hotel, very helpful staff and decent food. The room was comfortable and there was hot water - and a shower. Beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean. The staff were great and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Nicely situated if you are going on to Abu Simbel

Room Tip: Take a universal plug for the wash basin

Excellent hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Situated within walking distance of several good restaurants and shops. For those that like a longer walk the ferry to the West Bank is about 20 minutes from the hotel, as is Luxor Temple. With temperatures getting more manageable for the European tourist this is a perfect time to visit.

Room Tip: Book a Nile view room which overlook the beautiful gardens and pools.

It is definitely not the best of times to rate a hotel in Luxor. The incredible summer heat (occasionally something above 50 degrees in the sun and 40+ in the shade), the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan and a general feeling of insecurity in the country due to the ongoing political turmoils don't really make up for an ideal tourism climate in a city that relies in its income on tourism by more than 90%.
Having said that, there are many shortcomings in the hotel that nobody can really be blamed for given that only 7 out of 350 rooms were occupied.
Furniture and equipment, even though still functional and quite alright, are in desperate need of some maintenance. The kettle in the coffee corner needs something like 15 minutes to heat water that is barely enough for a medium cup of coffee, the TV clear channels to watch, all others have a very noisy picture or no sound. Thankfully, you cannot complain about the air conditioner.
The generally comfortable rooms themselves are fairly sized and feature a really HUUUUGE terrace overlooking the property's beautiful gardens, the swimming pool and a slight glimpse of the Nile.
The in room, safes they have published on their website do not exist. I was told they were removed from the rooms due to them being outdated and that right now buying new ones does not seem to be a feasible option. You can however get one free of charge in the reception's back area. Probably not the best of ideas but one should be able to life with it.
The area close to the very nice pool has a small seating arrangement directly at the shores of the Nile with a much more than just simply marvelous view.
The hotel also offers a cozy bar, a relaxing lobby and an elegant restaurant but due to low occupancy spending time in them while they are almost entirely deserted is rather depressing than rejuvenating. It must be great though with a little bit more people around.
Staff is very friendly and attentive indeed (let me particularly mention Abd El Meguid at the "El Andalus" - Bar) and the 24 hours room service doesn't mind getting you whatever your heart desires (as long as they have it) even at 03.00 or 04.00 o'clock in the morning without making you feel that you are demanding too much.
The hotel is located in a clean, quite area close to the "Steigenberger". If you walk out of the place and take your left for a couple of hundred meters you'll find the "King's Head Pub & Restaurant" across the street where you can get a cold beer and quite a decent burger.
"KFC" is about 100 meters to the right of the hotel's entrance and if you were to take left from there, you'll find the duty free shop at your right hand.
With Luxor being a very small city, the hotel is close to all major attrtactions and downtown as well.
All in all a recommendable place and once tourism picks up again, I believe it will even be outstanding.

After coming to Egypt with my family and staying at the Pyramisa Isis hotel for a week.

We had an absolutely amazing time due to the weather, places to go and visit but at the end of the day to come back to a clean comfortable room is all we needed.

However, that is not all! Some days we simply decided to stay and lounge near the pool and literally just round the back is.. the River Nile! You could easily get a boat in 5 minutes to Banana Beach and then Crocodile Island, best transport ever!

Food at all times of day is absolutely top notch.

Definitely recommended for visitors to Egypt.
