“Horrible, Filthy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

We were booked in this hotel by our tour operator for a one night stopover before joining a Nile cruise. The hotel is dingy with peeling wallpaper and dirty paint. Our rooms were filthy. There were no top sheets on the beds - just a sheet over the mattress and a dirty blanket! The bathroom was disgusting. As we arrived after midnight, there was no alternative, so we stayed awake in our rooms until daybreak. The breakfast room was dirty and there was a tray of cold meat that had already discoloured and started curling at the edges. An unbelievably terrible place.

Enjoyed my stay here immensely.

The rooms were clean and large with freezing aircon. Bathrooms were clean and there was soft toilet paper (a rare commodity in Egypt)!

The restaurant was great. A 3-course dinner for 30LE was GREAT value & the serving staff were friendly. Breakfast was in a restaurant by the pool & there was a good choice of foods (much better than the usual egg, rolls & cheese everywhere else in Egypt).

King Dudes Bar was great for drinks. 2 cocktails for the price of one & lots of funny names for them. There was a disco but I gave this a miss & can't say I heard any noise from my room.

Hotel has a pool & nice area to lounge about with a beer after a day in the 40c heat!

Location is good. A nice walk to the centre of Luxor. Lots of tourist shops but head down the side streets and go into local shops. Plenty of restaurants within a 5-minute walk.

Mostafa, who runs the small convenience shop & gift shop at the front of the hotel was the nicest person I met in Egypt! So friendly, happy to tell you about Egypt & won't rip you off in his gift store.

Best of all - Gaddis is super cheap!

The hotel is close to Luxor temple. The staff is polite. Not that clean. Most of the rooms never renovated, sink stacked, no hot water in some rooms, most of the things in the bathroom damaged, the air conditioning device was getting out smoke.

I never usually review hotels because I've never had anything much to say about the places I've stayed, but due to some last minute changed in Luxor I ended up having to spend a night here. The rooms are large, but that's it. The management insists on holding your passport during your stay, and the elevator is so old it's honestly a wing and a prayer using it. I ended up not showering during my stay that day because the hot water didn't work (and it's the coldest winter Egypt has had in a while). The bathroom is also leaky and FILTHY. The phone in my room also didn't work so I had to run downstairs everytime I needed something. The hotel also has a no outside food policy because they have their own restaurant and room service, which would be fine if the food is good, but it's overpriced and terrible. My spaghetti bolognaise was overlooked and not at all authentic. Even if I was given a free night to stay here again, I'd honestly pass. AVOID.
