Actually, we are currently staying at the Luxor Hilton Resort, and after just one day I can highly recommend this hotel in Luxor. Being a HHonors Diamond member, I have seen a lot of Hilton hotels all over the world, but the service and surroundings at this hotel are stunning. Based on the East bank of the mighty Nile river, this is a place to unwind and relax and have yourself treated like a King. The service is outstanding, even for Hilton standards.

Arriving at Luxor airport we were greated by Hilton employee Ahmed who guided us quickly and smoothly to customs and took care of our luggage. Transport was easy and quick.
At arrival got our promised complimentary upgrade to a great room with a view.
Breakfast is sumptious, as is diner. All personel are helpful and friendly.

For my wife and me this break can not last long enough and I will update the review after we got home.

Please do not stay away from Luxor, you don not notice any riot here as you might find in Cairo!

We really loved this hotel, its staff, the facitlites, the location. Totally brilliant and we will go back for sure.
It is by far the best hotel in Luxor, by a long way and well worth any extra you may pay. So much better than the famous Winter palace which looks really run down by comparison.
It is elegant in every aspect, the pools overlooking the Nile with the view to the west bank are just superb and there you can eat lunch in a very good Italian restaurant. The spa is brilliant, make sure you go and look around it when you get there as it has a lot to offer.
Our hint - if you like watching films then take some with you as the rooms have DVD players and they dont have a big film library there. Also it is nice to be located away from central old Luxor which is smelly and noisy. Karnak is really near and really easy to travel around from there in the free minibus from the hotel or taxi. Taxis are cheap, in fact everything is cheap right now as the Egyptians are suffering from the lack of tourists. We felt completely safe all the time and it was the perfect holiday combination of relaxing by a lovely pool in the sun and sightseeing amazing temples and tombs.

This is one of the most memorable hotels I've stayed in and a fantastic base to explore Luxor. It is not your typical Hilton as its privately owned but retained the brand name. The stand out features were the beautiful decor, incredible service and the attention to detail.

The hotel is really beautiful, extremely well maintained and clean. The pool areas are wonderful and have great views over the Nile. Great service around the pool area with complimentary ice creams and fruit skewers brought around my staff. The service is of a very high standard and very warm and genuine.

We had a Nile view room which had, as to be expected, a beautiful view, particularly at sunset. Room is slightly on the smaller side but beautifully presented.

The selection at breakfast is fantastic and has a lovely balance of traditional and western options. I absolutely loved the homemade and freshly cooked falafels, Arabic bread and tahini. We ate dinner in each of the restaurants. The best was the Arabic food out by the water. Had some delicious meze and fish and enjoyed the atmosphere with the sitar player.

Other facilities... I used the gym a few times which is well equipped, very quiet and has a lovely view over the Nile. We also had a cocktail lesson at the bar which was good fun. There is quite a good selection of DVDs to borrow at reception as well. Didn't use the spa as unfortunately that was on the more pricey side. We only used the shuttle bus once but it was good.

Recommendations for Luxor.. The hot air balloon trip was fantastic. We had a private guide for touring the tombs which was definitely worth it. The only disappointing thing was our guide took us to a papyrus shop as we said we were interested in buying some and it turned out he took a big back hander as we over paid. However our taxi driver for the holiday, who goes by the name "Mr Chips" got some of our money back as he saw what was going on. Mr Chips was fantastic and it's definitely worth asking reception for him - honest, friendly and good value for money!
