“Beautiful and memorable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

This is one of the most memorable hotels I've stayed in and a fantastic base to explore Luxor. It is not your typical Hilton as its privately owned but retained the brand name. The stand out features were the beautiful decor, incredible service and the attention to detail.

The hotel is really beautiful, extremely well maintained and clean. The pool areas are wonderful and have great views over the Nile. Great service around the pool area with complimentary ice creams and fruit skewers brought around my staff. The service is of a very high standard and very warm and genuine.

We had a Nile view room which had, as to be expected, a beautiful view, particularly at sunset. Room is slightly on the smaller side but beautifully presented.

The selection at breakfast is fantastic and has a lovely balance of traditional and western options. I absolutely loved the homemade and freshly cooked falafels, Arabic bread and tahini. We ate dinner in each of the restaurants. The best was the Arabic food out by the water. Had some delicious meze and fish and enjoyed the atmosphere with the sitar player.

Other facilities... I used the gym a few times which is well equipped, very quiet and has a lovely view over the Nile. We also had a cocktail lesson at the bar which was good fun. There is quite a good selection of DVDs to borrow at reception as well. Didn't use the spa as unfortunately that was on the more pricey side. We only used the shuttle bus once but it was good.

Recommendations for Luxor.. The hot air balloon trip was fantastic. We had a private guide for touring the tombs which was definitely worth it. The only disappointing thing was our guide took us to a papyrus shop as we said we were interested in buying some and it turned out he took a big back hander as we over paid. However our taxi driver for the holiday, who goes by the name "Mr Chips" got some of our money back as he saw what was going on. Mr Chips was fantastic and it's definitely worth asking reception for him - honest, friendly and good value for money!

What a wonderful hotel!

I have booked to go again and can't wait. Rooms, service, food and staff second to none, helped of course by the weather. I was so glad my Saress arrived in time to be packed, was everything it said it would be and more.

After staying in the Hilton Luxor last winter 2011 with our kids, we now returned for a week without the kids.

Altough is always tricky to go back a second time (because of the high expectations you'll have), we have to say that this stay once again was more than fantastic.

What makes this hotel so special ? First of all, the wonderfull staff. Once you enter the hotel, you'll feel the great hospitality from the staff. On the lobby, in the bar, at the swimmingpool....every member of the staff gives his best effort to make you feel confortable.
Secondly, the setting is epic ! you'll look to the valley of the kings over the Nile, with sunsets you'll never seen before.
Thirdly, the good restaurants where they serve great food, no Michelin-star food, but just fresh and nice food for everybody.

Furthermore I have to mention the nice infrastructure. The staff is working hard to keep it clean and it all still looks new.

For the choise of a room : we've had the Deluxe Nile view. Room was OK, but our room had connecting doors ; the sound and rumours of the room next door were not well isolated. As the occupance of the hotel was really low, we just had neighbours for 3 nights, so that doesn't bottered us to much. The lack of a bath tube was in fact the only thing we've regretted. If you want to have a bath tube you can upgrade to the Nile suite.

Conclusion : We took also a look in the Winterpalace hotel (a visit worth !), but it's clear that the Hilton is by far the best hotel in Luxor ! We certainly go back.

PS Don't hesitate to go to Luxor. You don't see anytinf of the problems in Cairo !

Recently returned from a 6 night stay and can unreservedly recommend this oasis of calm just outside downtown Luxor. 5* service - the staff cannot do enough for you and take a pride in their job, from those serving the sumptious breakfast, to the spa pool staff and the wonderful guys on the concierge desk.

My only (very minor) gripe is that the shuttle bus could be a little more frequent. However, it is a mostly pleasant 45 minute walk from downtown to the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a Nile view room ... well worth the extra $s!

Well what can I say... There is a reason this is the No.1 hotel in Luxor! My wife and I are well travelled, and I can honestly say that is the best resort we have every stayed at. Ok, there are many 5 star hotels that look and feel this good, but they don't have the 5 star service to go with it. This place has a 5 star service! The staff can't do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble, and will bend over backwards for you and think that is a normal service which they should be providing. I don't normally remember names, but out of all the good workers there, Ahmed at the concierge desk (small, slim man with glasses), stood out from the rest of them. He came to pick us up from the airport. The hotel contacted us via e-mail the day before we set off from London and asked if we wanted to be picked up from the airport. We accepted their offer (30USD). We arrived very late at night, and to make things worse, our baggage didn't arrive when we did! Ahmed reassured us, and took us to the hotel. He pre-ordered some dinner for us, and it was ready when we got back to the hotel. In the morning, they took us back to the airport to collect our luggage, free of charge, which was very nice of them, as it wasn't their fault (EgyptAir - avoid!).

The hotel's location is good, near to the centre of Luxor (just 10 mins by bus). The hotel runs 6 free shuttle trips to and from the centre. The building itself is beautiful, and the grounds and pool are immaculate. Security is good too, guards are always patrolling the resort. The food in all of the restaurants is excellent, and the prices you would expect to pay if you were eating out in England. You can take along your laptops and tablets too, as there is free Wifi all around the public areas of the hotel, such as the pool, spa and shisha lounge. We had a Nile View room, so we could pick up the free Pool wifi most of the time, which turned out to be very handy, as you have to pay for the wired connection in your room. The Nile View room is a MUST as the views of the resort and Nile are fantastic.

We tried the spa too, which was very expensive, but world class! We both had a back, neck and shoulder massage which was quite an experience! I accidentally asked for a "firm" massage (middle of the range) and regretted it!

The best thing is that the resort is very quiet, not many people stay here for some reason, so most of the time you have the pool to yourself. I tried the gym too, and never saw a soul in there. There is a Thomas Cook onsite who arrange tours of Luxor and beyond. They are expensive, but you must haggle with them. They are very quiet and need business. We managed to haggle the price right down on a tour we booked with them.

Do not hesitate to book this hotel, you wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Luxor, trust me!

Room Tip: Go for a Nile View Room at the very least

Hi,

Just back from a one week break. We had a very pleasant stay at the Hilton and can highly recommend this jewel located a bit out of the town centre! The hotel decoration, rooms, food are great. The Hilton service is better than the hotels we experienced in Europe and USA; everybody is extremely kind, efficient and helpful.

In the beginning of our stay we had two technical issues in our room; as from the moment we reported the problems immediate action was taken.

We recommend you do not book any bus group tours but directly book with the travel agent at the hotel. We had private guides and all the prices were reasonable! I would also like to recommend one particular guide; Mariam; she was great!

We just have two comments; it would be nice to hang the magnifying mirrors in the bathroom instead of having them just standing near the sink.
We also hope that the nearby nile boats will soon be gone. The hotel Manager assured us that already many had gone and that negotiations with the authorities were very tough. Heads up for that!

And one more thing; don't be afraid to come and visit Luxor and surroundings; the place is absolutely safe - far away from the troubled northern part of Egypt. This is like another world.

And if you have other questions do not hesitate to drop me a mail!

Sara

Room Tip: Take a nile luxury room and ask for top floor

Excellent hotel, no comments at all! We will go back when we go to Luxor again...
The food at the restaurant Rosetta is very good, its a buffet with lots of choices.
The Olives restaurant was good as well for lunch.
You have a nice view off the Nile river and you can see the Valley of the King and the Queen which is always lightened at the evening.
