“Utterly superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Everything about this hotel & spa is excellent - facilities, food, staff, ambience. I have stayed in beautiful hotels all over the world but this one is by far the best. I spent a week here last year with my mum and sister and we loved it so much we're going back in February this year. 200 words is nowhere near enough to do this hotel justice! 5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

My partner & i hadn't been on a 7 night holiday in nearly 4 years so we really wanted to treat ourselves. He stumbled across Luxor and we found the Hilton Hotel.
When we arrived we were greeted with a refreshing drink and i was given a red rose. Our room was fantastic, king sized bed, view of the Nile with a small balcony. The bathroom was modern and had a huge shower.
We went for a walk around the grounds and were impressed with the view across the Nile to the mountains which house the Valley of the Kings, etc.
The main restaurant was just great. We had half board and found that the breakfast selection was fantastic with so much to choose from. Dinner was the same, a different theme each night with tasty starters, mains and a great selection of desserts. Gamal in his black suit and Ashraf in the restaurant are a credit to the hotel for their fantastic service.
Ahmed and the reception staff in the Spa were also fantastic. Kelley the Spa Manager was very friendly, helpful and a total credit to the hotel as well.
We both had a massage in the Spa which was just what we both needed even if rather expensive! The Spa wasn't very busy and we think the price of treatments doesn't help!
On our last day we went in to the steam rooms, etc and the facilities are just fantastic. So nice to have a good relax before our flight home.
We found the Reception staff a bit wet, distant and sometimes helpful! This was a let down.
We didn't like being sold stuff around both the pool areas! This really annoyed us as we were there to relax.
We also found that our house keeping was sloppy. Water, tea etc not being replaced and well as wash items. We thought that because we hadn't tipped him each day that he was in a strop and that is why our room wasn't up to the standard as it was when we arrived.
However when he was tipped it's amazing how everything is done in your room!! Not impressed with this at all.
These are some very small negative points but the rest of our stay was totally fantastic.
This is the best hotel in Luxor and i would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a wonderful stay. :-)

Room Tip: Choose a room with a Nile view and ask for a king sized bed as they are amazing.

Dear our Valued Guest,

I would like to thank you for having chosen Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa to spend your holiday and for your constructive feedback.

It is great to read that your stay was fantastic & wonderful; your appreciation for our staff efforts especially from Gamal, Ashraf, Ahmed, Spa reception team is token which will support them to continue strive for excellence.

Kelly, our Spa Manager, is grateful for your comments and she is so happy to know that her efforts have ended up to your satisfaction.

Your remarks about the treatment prices retained my full attention and I want to inform you that we use expensive products which are Anne Semonin products; however, of course your remark has been taken into our consideration for the future Spa menu prices review.

I have shared your feedback about the reception staff with Front Desk Manager to take the remedial action.

As for the selling activity around the swimming pool, I shared your comment with the concerned departments to pay more attention to this issue.

Regarding the tea & water in the room, I passed it onto the Food & Beverage department to take the necessary action with the team.

Rest assured that our team members do not look for extra tips as serving you as a valued customer is our leitmotif. Paying tips is always up to the discretion of the guest and should reward excellence.

We are looking forward for your next visit which we hope it will be in the near future.

Kind regards,

Christoph Schleissing

Recently returned from our latest trip to Luxor. First time at the Hilton but hopefully not the last. We upgraded from the Nile View room, which we had booked , to a Nile View room with a balcony. In hindsight I would have stuck with the standard Nile View room as the main reason we upgraded was for the balcony which we rarely used due to the abundance of attractive sitting out areas. The pool areas were fabulous, especially the spa pool .
The breakfasts were particularly good & there was lots of choice.
Unfortunately the hotel was really quiet, due to the recent problems in Cairo, so the atmosphere was a bit lacking, but all in all its a fantastic place & I really hope to return.

Room Tip: A Nile View room is a a must

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year 2012/2013. This was our 9th visit to Egypt and our 3rd visit to Luxor having previously stayed at the Sheraton and the Mövenpick. Without a doubt the Hilton is the best hotel we have ever stayed in - in Egypt or anywhere else (and we are very fussy!).

We will start with the very few negatives:

Room size & room facilities: Our room was on the small side - we stayed in a double room (228) overlooking the Spa garden, Spa infinity pool & Nile (although it was hard to see the view because of 2 palm trees in front of our balcony). The balcony is tiny, i.e. you can stand on it but it's not big enough for 2 chairs, so you can't sit out on the balcony. The bathroom is also very small, i.e. we couldn't both get into the bathroom at the same time, unless 1 of us was in the shower! However rooms in Luxor do on the whole tend to be smaller than those at Red Sea hotels.

On the plus side, the room does have everything you need and we found the beds super comfy! I.e. small table & 2 chairs for dining, a flat screen TV with really good choice of channels and a solid signal. A multi-region DVD player. Alarm clock that can be used an an MP3 speaker. Coffee & tea making facilities. Mini bar/fridge. Desk with internet connection. Iron/ironing board/hairdryer & safe.

The only other negative (which is not the hotel's fault) is that currently there is an 'illegal' Nile cruise boat docking station near the hotel - the boats are an eyesore and rubbish is pumped out of them daily - it floats down the Nile past the hotel sun bathing/main pool area. HOWEVER, we understand from Christoph Schleissing (the Hilton's General Manager) that he has finally won the battle with the authorities to get these boats moved. I do hope so, as it's rather embarrassing for the Hilton. But it did not spoil our holiday at all because there is so much else that is beautiful to look at!

Now ALL of the MANY positive points (how long have you got?!)

Service: Is beyond excellent. You are treated like a VIP - because to the Hilton staff you ARE a VIP. And they're not like robots; they genuinely care about you and for you and want to ensure that you are having the best possible experience they can deliver. And we mean every single member of staff. If you ever do have a problem, it will be dealt with immediately and compensated to your total satisfaction. And please don't try to move your own sun lounger - seriously, you are not allowed to lift a finger!

Hotel Location, Facilities & Ambiance: Excellent. The hotel is sited immediately opposite the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank. It is beautifully designed in an elegant and restrained way. There are lots of water features both outside and inside. The gardens are lovely and beautifully planted (Libby is a garden designer). Facilities include: 3 great restaurants, a gym, 2 pools (1 is split into 2 parts), and a wonderful spa suite that is free to use. The Spa infinity pool is great, plus quiet and relaxing as no children allowed. The hotel also has sailing boats & a motor boat that can be booked for excursions. And a creche for children. The sunset terrace/bar on the first floor outdoor level is particularly beautiful.

Food: 3 restaurants - Rosetta (buffet) where breakfast is served (which is fantastic), the Olive - outdoor Mediterranean food (heaters available) which doubles up as the pool bar/restaurant during the day & the fabulous (our favourite) Silk Road restaurant serving Asian food.

Prices: Food is approximately what you would expect to pay in the UK at an average restaurant. However, alcohol is VERY expensive, e.g. £5 for bottle of local beer and over £20 for a bottle of local plonk. What we do, is to buy our own duty free spirits on the way out & buy mixers at the local Egyptian supermarket (there is one directly opposite the Hilton entrance) which are really cheap. Also, if you fancy a cheap nearby night out - go to the 'Aladin' bar, 10 mins walk from the Hilton - towards Luxor centre) where drinks are far cheaper - also great fun!

We could go on forever about how great the Hilton is - we simply can't wait to go back!!!

IMPORTANTLY:

1) If you are worried about safety in Egypt, we've been 9 times and have always felt totally safe. Luxor IS totally safe. And now is a fantastic time to go as tourist sites are quiet.

2) If you've never been to Egypt before, the people are just lovely! Please take time to get to know them, have a laugh and joke with them. It helps to just know a few words of Arabic but not essential!

3) Consider independent travel & excursions. We have always done this, e.g book the flight with a package company, book accommodation separately & we have always used local guides for our trips. We would far rather our money went into the local economy than to a big travel companies. Plus you get a totally individual & personal service rather than being herded around like a sheep!! For inspiration and help on this, go to http://www.flatsinluxor.co.uk/ and click on 'Luxor Tours'.

4) ENJOY!!

John & Libby, Cheshire, UK

Room Tip: Try for a room with a Nile view (i.e. not ground floor), 2nd or 3rd floors overlooking the Spa pool...

We spent 3 days at the Hilton Hotel. The hotel is great! The structure is perfect and the staff are very helpful. The room that we got was clean and comfortable! Amazing view also.
We payed for the New Year Party and It was a decepcion. We payed a lot for that and the night was very boring. The dinner was good but the party was a completelty bust. The show was terrible, the band... The night was very boring for all us. Anyway, the hotel is a good expensive option for the city, but they need more expertise for events!

Spent 7 nights here over the New Year period. An immaculate hotel, clean, great design and cool furnishings. Pretty standard bedroom. Great choice at breakfast. Top quality restaurants.

Special thanks:
Abdelhak - who cleaned our bedroom every day and surprised us with the most incredible towel designs!
Mahmoud at the lovely Silk Road restaurant
Ahmed at the spa pool - great service

Improvements:
The main pool service was haphazard, drinks orders could take ages, members of staff hard to find when it came to sign off the bills.

Must do:
Balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings.

If you are travelling to Luxor then the Hilton is the only hotel choice. We ventured out to most of the other 5 star hotels and none got close to the Hilton.

A very good choice for a Winter sun break.
