“This hotel is my 'little bubble - my safe haven' in life.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2010

I have been coming to this hotel for the last 10 years, sometimes on my own and other times with a friend - you can see that something is right with the place!.
Egypt is like a second home to me and this is the only hotel at which I wish to stay, the staff treat me like a 'queen', nothing is too much trouble. The service is excellent.
I am worried about the future of the Pavillon Hotel in the grand scheme of all the changes that will be happening, but I hope it will remain my 'home from home' for many years to come!

We (my husband and I and my parents) stayed at this hotel from 10th - 24th March 2010. We booked through Thomas Cook and paid about £700 each for B&B, a bargain when you consider where this hotel is located. The Pavillion Wing is a new modern block in the grounds of the Old Winter Palace and shares the same facilities e.g. pool (not breakfast though). It is on the banks of the Nile next to Luxor Temple so fantastic for exploring Luxor. To book trips use Cheops Travel, outside the OWP on the right hand side. Watch out for the price of drinks poolside, better to smuggle your own in, be discreet and the staff wont mind a bit. If you go out the back gate near the pool you will find shops selling drinks much cheaper than the shops on the Corniche. No alcohol at all though - be prapared and bring your own! Food prices are OK though, definately do the Galibia Party on a saturday night, its about £15 for a buffet and entertainment. Be warned this is the only entertainment in the hotel, there is nothing going on at night in the hotel or in Luxor itself apart from the Sound and Light Show.
All in all the hotel is well worth the money and we though it was the best placed for Luxor and for relaxing pool days and we would definately return.

Lovely hotel, it's all been said already. Not sure how the extension works will affect the pavillion though. All I'd add is that being away from the Corniche the rooms are very quiet as all look onto the huge garden. And the free internet access in reception is useful too. Love it.

There are 2 related hotels here. We stayed at the Pavilion which shares the grounds with the old Winter Palace. Since we aren't the sort of tourists who pack dinner wear it proved to be the right one for us.
We loved the place. The grounds are beautifully grassed with mature transplanted trees and flower gardens. Our room was comfortable, with a huge bed and everything was clean and in good repair - things worth noting in Egypt! Our room had a balcony (most seem to). Individual room A/C.
The hotel seems to pride itself on its service.
15 min free internet /day available in the lobby, otherwise available for a steep charge.
The restaurant beside the pool served very good Egyptian food. Breakfast was reasonable, but the selection was quite limited.
After a hard "road trip" tour staying in some locations with limited hotel choices, this was a welcome place for the group to relax and unwind. If the on-site bars and restaurants aren't to your liking, there were plenty of others right across the Corniche on the banks of the Nile.

My husband and I have stayed at the Pavillion Hotel during the last week in February for the past 4 years and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Ideally located next to Luxor temple with the river Nile just over the road . We have always had excellent service from all hotel staff and would happily recommend this hotel. Well worthy of a mention are the pool attendants, greeting everyone with a happy smile and nothing it too much trouble for them. We are looking forward to our 5th visit next February!

We (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in 2 rooms for a night in mid February. We wanted to stay two but the hotel could not confrim the 2nd night, so we ended up in Maritim Jollie Vile for the 2nd night. The hotel is very conveniently located next to Luxor temple. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, though some furniture was a bit old. The pool was good and the dinner buffet was very high quality. In comaprison with Maritim, it is more suited for people without children, as Maritim has more children's activities.

Overall, we had a good stay and would stay there again.

Sad to say that the Pavillion is hardly comparable to most Sofitels--for that matter any of their "lesser" chain hotels like Novotel or Mercure. Customer service is minimal--asking to purchase a very expensive internet card was like pulling teeth. "we are out"--are you kidding me? I asked clerk to call the main hotel WInter Palace. "they have none". E20 for 24 hrs and they don[t have ANY??This was late morning--still not avail 5-6 hours later.
We had a "view" room--ha--if you go out on the balcony, turn 90 degrees, you can see a patch of the Nile--past the main hotel, across the street, the riverside...
Bed was flat, thin but curved up at the corners where the scratchy sheets didn't quite fit...
Towels were quite nice--the only quality item in our room.
Breakfast next day was open at 5am--we arrived at 5:30 and everything in the heated buffet pans was COLD--yuk and eww to scrambled eggs and nasty cold sausages, potato things--totally horrid. Lukewarm coffee and no water. Minimal service and "who cared attitude"
Happily checked out an d immediately moved to the Sheraton.
Shame on Sofitel. They should have some idea how bad this hotel is.
