“Good location, great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2011

Nice staff, clean and quiet rooms, good breakfast served on the roof terrace with a fantastic view. Very well located near all the tourist attractions in Luxor West Bank, e.g. just a 7 min drive away from the Valley of the Nobles.
Great value for money!
We enjoyed our stay there very much!

Walking through the door we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. Room was ready on arrival and we actually had the choice of a couple rooms. Air con in both rooms. The manager Paulo was very accommodating and friendly. Room was very clean and neat. Enough hanging rails and drawers to put things. Bathroom very clean.

We had dinner on the roof terrace, absolutley lovely traditional Egyptian food and very good value. Salads and mezzes, lovely tagines, chicken and egyptian rice.

The Valley of the Kings mountain, Hatchepsut temple area was lit up this evening and the view from the roof terrace was absolutley outstanding. Lovely quet location to relax and talk.

The area at the bottom of the hotel outside is also a lovely place to sit and relax in the little courtyard, you can have the Egyptian shisha pipes there too.

All in all and excellent stay and we will be going back again to this quiet haven.

I have just returned from a 2 week stay at Hotel Kareem. I really didn't want to leave.
We decided to try a small budget hotel this time and will never go to the large chains again.
The personal service and friendliness was priceless.
The hotel has a homely feeling and is kept spotlessly clean.
The rooms are basic but the balconies in the rooms at the front of the building are huge.
We had an air conditioned room but found out that not all rooms have air con yet. Most have .
The little chill out garden at the back of the hotel on the ground floor is a lovely spot to wind down , read a book or smoke a Shiesha.
The staff can be found chilling out here also and they are real nice guys.
They have a laugh with you but no messing around like in other places we have stayed before.
The staff are friendly but know when to leave you alone. ( not something I've ever found before on previous trips to Luxor. )
The new Manager ( Paolo ) an Irish guy is a wealth of local knowledge and sorted out all our tours and train tickets for us.
He has recently taken the hotel over and plans to really make the place work.
I think the staff have been briefed on how to treat guests from him, He is friendly and helpful but I get the feeling he would take no nonsense from the staff.

The breakfast was ok but a bit repetitive.
As for the other meals ...WOW !!!! The chef is out of this world.

Very good value for money food on the Set menu at 45 - 50 pounds Egyptian per person.
That included Soup, 4 entrees, Tahina, Baba Ghanosh,Oriental and Aubergine fried in batter. with bread, and Main Course.
You have a lot of set choices to choose from like Tagine, Roast Chicken, Shish Kebab, Shish Tawook, Kofta Moussakka, Fish.
We tried it all and I totaly recommend the Fish Tagine,
my partner was more a fan of the Pasta Arabiata .

We also had other choices when they had an Italian night and an Indian night.
Italian was very good but Indian needs a little work. ( Was good but not what we expected.)
The chef has promised to learn how to cook more Indian food for when we come back.

The Roof Terrace Restaurant has the most fantastic views of the newly lit up mountains and the East Bank at night. It's impossible not to relax when you sit there.
It has views of Hatchepsut Temple and the mountains of the Valley's of the Kings, Nobles, Workers. You can also watch the cruise boats coming into Luxor from the roof during the day.
There is a shaded area on the roof which is needed as it was so hot when we stayed.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the local Ferry boat so we could pop across to the East Bank when ever we wanted.
We really had the most amazing trip. We both came back looking and feeling like we had just had a holiday.
My opinion. .......
What are you waiting for ?
Give it a try.
