Owner description: The Karnak Sound and Light Show highlights the dramatic history of ancient Thebes. The show narrates the achievements of some great Pharaohs, with poetic descriptions of the ancient treasures. As visitors walk through the complex, the pharaohs arise to tell the story of their interesting lives, as haunting music mysteriously flows through this ancient city. Ancient and poetic voices tell the visitors about the birth of Karnak temple and the heroic achievements of the pharaohs and the god Amun. It is an enchanting and supernatural experience to listen to sound effects and gaze at the magnificent ruins illuminated during the well-presented show.

“Lit up in Luxor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

I returned for the 3rd time to the Sound and Light show, it hadn't changed. It is so atmospheric and this is how I like my history ~ up close and personal. Standing in the temple at Thebes in the dark, with a view across the Nile to the Valley of the Kings.."any lights on the hillside mean the embalmers are at work". Amazing historical site. Narrative is unexpectedly Disney (Judi Dench booming through the Luxor night) but it does say "Sound and Light". It captivated me for a third time and I was pleased to have gone again. Its only an hour. A mongrel dog, perched on top of a stone Pharoah, howling at the stars, added to the experience..Many thought it part of the show. (it wasn't).

“If you visited during the day, you could give this a miss”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

AKA Karnak sound and light show.
It was interesting but if you can't fit it in your schedule or can't afford it ( we paid 100 EGY each), you aren't missing much.
Note: there is a fair bit of walking in 'not well lit areas' and sometimes the sound was not good.
We had visited the Temple during the day ( with a guide) and frankly, that was sufficient. This show did not enhance our experience at all.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

We read some of the reviews and thought we would go for a giggle, but his was much better than we expected. The script was a bit 'flowery' but all in all we are glad to have gone.

Wonderful atmospheric show - very cheesy narrative, but impressive look at an amazing historical site

“Second only to Abu Simbel Son et Lumiere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

This night tour was decidedly spooky at times. In the shadowy Hypostyle hall, wild dogs howled around us as the commentary started. The finale over the dark sacred pool was spiritually mesmerising too. Even these great and good things could not quite match the incredible lights at Abu Simbel.
