“Down to earth hotel on the West bank of Luxor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Ideal hotel a 7 min walk from the docks and on the right side of the river for the Valley of the Kings, Camel rides, boat tri[ps and tour guides. A releif to be away from the constant hanggling and honking of horns of the East side of Luxor. For those who don't know - Luxor is dicested by the Nile crossed only by water taxi's which cost £1 a passage. The restuarant at Hotel Sheherazade is good, the tented restaurant has the feeling of being in a Bedewin tent. Very authentic. The rooms are quiet, basic and clean. The rooms are small, not alot of rooms to swing a cat but why would you want to hang out in your bedroom anyway. Its a hotel more for very casual ware for £27.00 a night. Staff are freindly and will bend over backwards to help.

Room Tip: Bring your own shower / shampoo. Non supplied. Suite ( if you can call it that ) on roof the best an...

We had a great stay at Hotel Sheherazade on Luxor's West Bank. The staff were very friendly from check-in to check-out, and helped us organise a car for the day to visit the Valley of the Kings etc for a reasonable price. The food was also good and they have a lovely garden to dine in. The owner, Mohammed, was very helpful & even looked up where our next hotel was in Aswan so that we could plan our time there! Brilliant. In particular the meat Moussaka was a highlight for dinner!

In other areas: wifi was good & fast enough for our needs, breakfast was fine, and the location is nice and close (easy walking distance) to the public ferry from the East Bank. We had a ground floor room, and it was perfectly adequate for our needs, with good hot water and a large double bed.

One tip we would give is to take up the hotel's offer of an airport pickup for LE150. We didn't and it took us significant bargaining to get a driver down to a price below that - and then is was a long way from the airport, so we probably bargained a little too hard in hindsight. Also bear in mind that this hotel only accepts cash, and at the time of our stay there were no ATMs on the West Bank.

Overall we would strongly recommend a stay at Hotel Sheherezade; it is great value for what you pay, and nice to escape from the hubbub & sometime hassle of Luxor's East Bank.

My time in Egypt was very special indeed and I felt most welcome during my stay at Hotel Sheherazade. All the staff were great! Extremely helpful and accommodating, they provided a very personal service and were on hand at all times, day or night. The hotel surroundings were spacious, airy and light. I treasured sitting up on the roof terrace and taking in the beauty of the landscape. Also, spending quiet time relaxing in the lush garden. The meals I had were very tasty and authentic. Being right by the stunning nile was an added bonus too. I would highly recommend Hotel Sheherazade to anyone and will definitely be returning!

This is a super friendly place that understand great service. Clean and elegantly simple rooms, some with beautifully architectural ceilings, lovely roof top and ground floor garden hang out areas, very good food and help with anything you wanted to know was on offer. The West Bank is much less 'touristy' than the East Bank and I would highly recommend staying on this side of the river if you want a more real, more friendly and less hassled experience.

The hotel staff were excellent, they looked after me so well and arranged any outings/trips that I asked for, they also suggested alternatives.

The rooms were cleaned daily and the staff prided themselves on what they achieved, different towel sculptures daily too.

The setting of the Hotel is in a quiet area of the westbank, close to shops and restaurants and also to the ferry terminal should you wish to explore in Luxor itself.

The food was cooked freshly as you ordered it and served in a lovely peaceful garden.

The view from the roof terrace was stunning.

I would definitely stay here again, the staff are so friendly and helpful.

From the moment I checked in I knew I had come to the right place. The warm and friendly welcome was the start of a special week with experiences of Egypt increasing to magical levels day by day. Service was outstanding at anytime of day or night and all the staff were genuinely happy to be of service. The authentic food dishes were delicious and well presented.
Sitting quietly on the roof terrace taking in the wonderful views created a peaceful tranquillity.
I can honestly say that I had an experience of a lifetime and will definitely be returning.
