Aswan is a very attractive town and compared to Cairo relatively clean and much less dusty. The bazaar here is not a bad place to spend an hour wandering - this is also a place where locals shop so it is not entirely for tourists. Once again becasue there are so few tourists visiting at the moment times are tough and the vendors have a desperate edge to them and will follow you down the street shouting offers. If you do stop be prepared to buy - it is very hard to get away. Interesting spice stores and the usual tourist junk as well as fruit and veg and all the items of daily life in Egypt. Also the Nubian jewellery is very chunky and modern looking and not expensive.
