We only spent 2 nights here during our 2 week holiday in Egypt. We travelled here from Luxor in a private mini-bus, stopping at Komombo and Edfu along the way. Our transport was arranged by Ahmed Balal, a fantastic tour operator who has just opened his own agency in Sheraton Road, Luxor, opposite Maxine's Restaurant at the Southern end of the Corniche.
The hotel is reached using the free shuttle ferry which operates every 15 minutes 24 hours a day. We found it a very relaxing interlude despite adverse comments from other reviewers who found the small wait tedious.
The hotel itself is set in beautifully maintained exotic gardens and if you are in the Western wing with a Nile view you look from lush greenery to desert in one sweep. It has 2 large interestingly shaped and featured swimming pools, both kept extremely clean. Lounger cushions and towels supplied without charge. All other amenities that you would expect, ie. bar, wc, showers are close at hand for each pool.
The rooms are large, well furnished, clean and with good, quiet individual room controlled air-conditioning. Balconies are large and spacious. Ours, as already mentioned, had an amazing view of the Nile, the garden and desert mountains.
The breakfasts are phenomenal but if you are a smoker you will be treated like a pariah, which is most unusual in Egypt!
The hotel is 5 star but don't expect Savoy or Claridges. Having said that, what it may lack in tiny details it more than makes up for in location, spaciousness and tranquility from the bustle of Aswan.
