“superb location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

we stayed here on the way to Luxor for one night. The room is large with ample space in spite of the triple bed on request. The bathrooms are a bit old fashioned and not very comfortable. Though large it lacks racks and hooks. the bed is a bit lumpy and there is no facility to keep 3 suitcases..

The one thing it has going is the spectacular view of the river Nile and the serene ambiance inspite of being right in the middle of the city.

the Service is fabulous, breakfast spread average and they cant make Turkish coffee. Perfect for couples with kids, as the pool is just in front of your room and the deck faces the Nile. T

Room Tip: we stayed at the triple room which was spacious and faced the swimming pool

We recently spent three days in this hotel and were very pleasantly surprised after having read the mixed reviews on TA.
On arrival we were initially given quite a small tired looking double room (albeit with an amazing Nile view) - we complained as had booked a triple room and were transferred straight away to a large newly decorated triple room. The hotel did appear to be almost empty.
We especially loved the pools and the gardens which all appeared to be well tended. The amazing bird life and the sunset over the Nile were added bonuses. The buffet breakfast was good but we didn't eat there in the evenings so can't comment on the dinner buffet.
We really enjoyed Aswan and chugging backwards and forwards to town on the little ferry. Our only regret is that we didn't stay for longer and are planning to come back and see all the stuff we didn't have time for, and just to spend more time chilling on the island watching the Nile go by.

Can't fault it! Can't wait to go back. So quiet and tranquil, the early morning here is magical! Staff cannot do enough for you in the dining room and the food is amazing value. For a quiet, peaceful break you need never leave the Island, tried another Hotal in Aswan but would never go anywhere else now.

Repeatedly since 2003 we had our holidays in Pyramisa Isis Island, Aswan and we were still enthusiastic about the outstanding an diverse service there.
It is so good to enjoy the friendly, openminded and endearing staff, which enriches our life every time again. This goes particularly for the excellent teamwork performed during dinnertime by the service staff and the cooks. As well are to mention the very friendly and competend gardeners and the housekeeping staff.
We think "to give time and attention" is something very spcial in contemporary times.
Saying this we would like to thank all people on this wonderful island who could in common give a good feeling and make holidays like they should be: a relaxing time in an overall outstanding atmosphere.
For sure it was not the last time we booked the best time of the year in Pyramisa Isis Island, Aswan, our second home.

Room Tip: you should go for the chalets!

This was our second visit to this hotel. The tranquillity of the setting on the Nile, the beautiful gardens, the exceptional attentiveness and friendliness of the staff would all make us want to book again even without the availability of so many of Egypts exceptional archaeological sites from this location. At a desk near reception you can find Yasser, who will book you any tour you can imagine as he did for us last year, or book you something more unusual if you allow him to help you choose. We would not have considered adding a Nile cruise in the middle of our two weeks this year but are so glad we did, we had a wonderful time. He also arranges transfers from the airport if you contact him before you fly, which removes the horrible haggling with unsafe taxi drivers.
The rooms we have stayed in were clean and comfortable although I would agree with other posters, the décor is tired. The only problem we had was unreliable air-conditioning, caused by several power cuts affecting Aswan while we stayed. However, technicians were sent immediately when we complained. The buffets are quite adequate but I recommend anything chef Otman cooks to order and there seems to be a cook-to-order station almost every night and every breakfast. In the lobby bar Osama is a server with a sense of humour and managed to find us our required rum even if its not usually popular in Egypt. The poolside service was excellent and I do like bougainvillea in my ice-bucket and flowers on every table for lunch. I ate salad every lunchtime enjoyably and safely. I do understand why some of the other returning guests stay twice a year for several months, this hotel has become a second home to them and the staff are their friends. I felt totally relaxed from the moment I boarded the motorboat at Aswan as I knew Pyramisa Isis were then looking after me. We just can’t wait to go back.

I should start this by saying I am a big Egypt fan and this is my 9th trip - my second to Aswan. Also on this trip I stayed in Luxor at the Martim Jollie Ville, please see that review. I wanted to love this hotel - Aswan is such a magical place.

The boat to the island was waiting and ready to go (on the Corniche opposite Egypt Air and a little down) and the approach to the hotel is great! It's on its own island and you seem to be able to get a crossing whenever you want (for a tip) otherwise its every 30mins.

But that's when it went wrong. On arrival we were "greeted" by a very miserable lady behind reception and a seemingly out of it young man. I saw "greeted" as we were just mumbled at and given the key - no information about hotel, breakfast, bars or even where the room was!

When we got to the room which was classed as Garden View it was in a poor state - just very very tired. Not dirty but marked. I went downstairs and luckily saw the manager who gave us a new room "Nile View" which was exactly as you'd expect - so please pay a little extra for a nice room.

From this point we were systematically ignored by all staff. We went down to the outside bar/pool area and waited a good 30mins for anyone to even come take a drinks order and then another 30mins for the sandwiches and beer. This happened most days.... i wonder if its because of a convention they had on.

Later that evening we tried to get some drinks at the very big bar.... 30 minutes later we were told no Gin, no Vodka - Whisky only. Amazing as the vast cocktail menu was still on each table. The waiter just shrugged and walked off.

I reckon there were 10 couples staying at the hotel that were not part of the Dialysis Convention. I wouldn't say the hotel was understaffed just staffed with people who didn't care - i expect they lost a lot of staff to Luxor or Cairo when the tourism dried up.

Due to the convention we were kept in different dining rooms for breakfast (dreadful buffet) and dinner (awful buffet) - the only plus point is we didn't get sick.....

Word of warning - be careful booking with the on site tour operator. "Aswan Way" and the chap is called Yasser. Not only did he cold call our room (how did he get our number?!?) he then booked a trip to the Philae Temple Light and Sound Show (which is great FYI) that only included a very expensive taxi ride 100 Egyptian pounds each plus another 50 for the boat. No ticket for the temple itself.... AND then we were left! The driver never came back for us. It was 9pm in rural Aswan and two ladies were left alone. Luckily another tour operator took pity and gave us a ride back to the Corniche.....

We also had a trip the next day to St Simeon with this company. 200 for the ride and guide plus 500 to take us to Luxor (3hrs). Again the first part was a gloried taxi ride for 20mins - at home £20 would be ok, but in Egypt you'd normally pay 30 Egypt max. The guide was ok but after the fiasco the day before Yasser assured me that the guide would stay with us until Luxor. Of course he didn't and got out in Aswan leaving us with the driver (seemed ok) who didn't speak English and his "friend" - god knows how we got home safe.

This hotel should be great. The location is the best of the best, the facilities are there just not up and running. Restaurants, pools, entertainment all closed. We went for a walk on the grounds and it was like the shining - derelict buildings, un-kept gardens and no people.

My advice - until tourism picks up, stay somewhere else. In fact avoid Aswan until then too. So sad...

If you need a Felucca or Boat ride - go down to the dock and ask for Khaled Seam Mohamed who owns the boat "Mara" - he's a great Nubian guy who took us out for a day and we went to the gardens, a nubian village and crusie down the Nile. Such a relief to find someone who cares - who knows they need tourists. He said to pay him what we thought the trip was worth - for half a day we paid 150 egypt pounds and he seemed delighted and gave us a free trip over to the Old Cataract later!

This is a very welcoming hotel in a unique location. We were taken from Aswan by boat and I was more than delighted by the architecture of the hotel as we approached the wharf. I need to thank the Peregrine Tour guide for arranging such a gorgeous place to stay. Our twin share room was very spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the fruit trees and the pools. The beds were very comfortable king singles with crisp white sheets and good, fresh pillows. The overall decor was tasteful, light and clean. There was a lounge chair and good overhead reading lamp in the room, a small refrigerator, and the capacity to make your own tea or coffee in the room upon arrival or before breakfast. The bathroom was stunning -- large and spotless with plenty of toiletries -- and in the entry hall there was a generous wardrobe for hanging clothes.
We went out for dinner, but used the coffee shops for afternoon tea and dessert. The service was friendly and helpful and there was a fabulous local music group playing traditional Egyptian music there to entertain guests in the evening. We were lucky to meet them while savouring our dessert.

Breakfast offered extensive choices in a lovely, open setting with pretty formal tablecloths. There was a chef there who made us a fresh omelette before we indulged in some extravagant pastries. Freshly brewed coffee was hot and in copious supply;,just how I need it in the mornings. The staff, all round, really aimed to please and that they did. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who is seeking somewhere lovely to relax for a while in Aswan.
