“Very affordable luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2011

This is probably one of the nicest hotels in Aswan you can find. I went during the slow season and got an amazing rate on a double room. It was a corner room with 2 large windows and 2 balconies with an incredible panoramic view of the nile. The room was spacious, decorated in Nubian style, with a sitting area, comfortable bedding and a very modern bathroom. The service was excellent- they left a dessert platter in my room, and each day they would create a different design on my bed with flower petals. My rate included breakfast which was amazing- a large selection of various hot and cold items, some Egyptian. Far beyond the predictable breakfast fare. The grounds of the hotel are impressive. There was a huge infinity pool and a small waterfall pool. The boat service to the mainland was pretty frequent, and not a hassle like I thought it would be. My only 2 minor complaints is that the restaurants and dinner buffet are too expensive, and the in-room wifi was very expensive. Overall I was very impressed by the Moevenpick and I definitely got more than I paid for.

The hotel is situated on Elephantine Island. Easily accessible from Aswan town via dedicated, 24hours boat service. A bit of an uphill walk from jetty to lobby (a problem for my elderly mom). Rooms are comfortable, large and great breakfast spread. View from the Panorama lounge is excellent. Don't forget to hire a felluca to sail during late afternoon... it was so relaxing!

Movenpick Hotel Aswan. A big hotel on the island with private boat over to it. Very spacious modern rooms and very clean. The bar in the tower has a good view on sunset over the Sahara. You can have afternoon tea there if you wish. We settled for a beer! The pool area is nice and large with plenty of sunbeds. The only problem is the load music that they seem to want to play. Given that 80% of the bathers were over 50 that did not seem at all appropriate and was quite annoying. The resataurant has reasonably priced food but it was more expensive (by 10-20%) than the equivalent hotel in Cairo and the Movenpick cruise boats we were on. Didn't use the internet connection as we were back in UK next day but it was just under £5 for an hour. It's free at Cairo airport! When will hotels learn it is a commodity like electricity & water and should be in the room rate.

Dear Valued-Guests;

Warm greetings from sunny Aswan.

I wish to thank you for having chosen the Moevenpick to be your holiday resort while visiting Aswan.

Also, thank you for taking the time in sharing your valuable impressions about our services. I took note of your observation regarding the noise at the swimming pool during the feast, which needed more attention from our side. Allow me to apologize and reassure you that I will bring it up with the team in charge. Your remark shall help us limit this kind of shortcomings from being repeated during future events.

Regarding the paid Internet, you are totally right. We are presently studying new ways to absorb this cost to provide this service free of charge.

Again, thank you and we look forward to welcoming you back to Moevenpick Resort Aswan, or to any of our properties worldwide,

Truly,

Dino Bustani

Situated on Elephantine Isalnd it is reached by a 5 minute shuttle ferry ride. The hotel has a small shopping gallery and a chemist. A large garden and pool area, various lounges and eating options. It has a complimentry afternoon tea for guests on the top floor of the tower. The best afternoon tea we had in Egypt. The view from the tower is outstanding, 360 degree views, both banks of the nile and Aswan. The service friendly and efficient and meals excellent. A room at the front corner of the builing on offers great views accross the river, the bazaar is only a 5 minute walk form the ferry landing. Our only regret we were not able to spend enough time there to take advantage of all the facilities.

Room Tip: A room at the front on 2 floor or above

We checked in early and the management gave us a complimentary upgrade to a 2-level suite! The staff greeted us warmly and were kind. We loved our room overlooking the Nile. In the evening, across the water, the colored lights from the botanical gardens reflected on the river. The pool area was really nice and we both enjoyed the poolside service and refreshing swim. The breakfast buffet was yummy! We recommend the Moevenpick, Aswan.

We stayed there for only one night and it was a problem: we didn't want to do the check-out on the next day. It is in an island (Elephantine Island), the room and the bathroom are very nice and the breakfast is perfect. The only comment is that the wifi is payed. But, besides that, we really recommend this hotel!

This is the second Moevenpick report we've stayed at and I wish there was more choice. This was the best of a bad lot, not including the Old Cateract.
The rooms were ok, the breakfast was ok, the service was ok, the location was ok, I think you're getting my drift, everything was just ok.
Would we stay again?...........probably, because there is no where else.except the Old Cateract and that is a bit pricey..
