“Amazing Monuments, Not the Best Display”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I've done a whole project about the Egyptian Museum. It holds so much inner value and so many inspirational stories, yet unfortunately, you won't always get to experience that since it's not that well organized or displayed.

It's definitely a place you should go, try to focus on the meaning behind it rather than what you directly see. It has the biggest collection.

“Mystery and History Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We visited the place back in 2009. We liked the Egyptian Museum, Museum of Egyptian Antiquities with the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. In the way, we visited one flower cotton collection shop. Snaps & Videos were strictly prohibited inside the museum. The museum contains Royal Mummy room, Mummification process representation, Animal mummy room, and the many treasures of King Tutankhamen along with his gold collection. The remains of many famous Pharaohs are stored in the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. The museum was so huge, that it will took almost a day to visit. More details and photographs at:

“Must visit before the pyramids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Go early in the morning, there is loads to see at this museum (+ you'd want to avoid huge buses full of people). Cameras would not be allowed so prepare accordingly. You need to have an experienced guide who does not push you to keep going ahead and tells it all with a lot of zeal.

Do visit the area with tutankhamun's mask - it is a not to be missed even though you only spend 10 minutes there. There are rooms full of mummies as well - it depends if you want to see them or not, they look the same but for me I liked paying more to see them up close and also link them to the stories told by my guide.

Post the museum visit, you can go to the pyramids and soak into the grandness and link to the stories you just heard.

“Ancient History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

The Museum has so much history stored within its walls that the curator and staff does not have space to store the ancient artifacts. We were amazed by the ancient history and wealth that is stored within this museum. Definitely a must visit whenever in Cairo!

“Well protected museum with unending pieces of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The hours are now shorter...closing at 4 pm so I will just have to go back again. The cost is minimal and an entire day could be spent if you have the time. There is so much it must be a challenge to label it. A guide makes it more enjoyable.
