“Great but not perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile

This hotel has the best location in Egypt set in the shadows of the pyramids. Great rooms with plenty of space. Wide choice for breakfast but food for dinner was only average. I found this typical of Egypt, don't expect gastronomy but I guess you don't visit Egypt for that. Try to avoid rooms facing the back. They back into a very busy road with the noise of the mad traffic and a local mosque with broadcast prayers even at 3.30 in the morning!
For a 5 star I would expect better such as not finding used items in the mini bar, dirty public areas and used crockery in the room, all minor in the scheme of things
Be prepared for Cairo, it really is a shock for most Europeans. It the most dirty, polluted city I have seen. You need to have your wits about you.

On the recommendation of Mohamed Abd El Moneim, of MenaTours, I recently stayed at the Mena House Hotel for 4 nights. It's a very nice hotel and as close to the pyramids as you will get. In fact the entrance to the grounds of the pyramids is less than 100 metres from the hotel driveway. The view from our room of the pyramids is wonderful and will take your breath away. The hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly. The food menu provides a little bit of everything from all around the world and their everyday breakfast buffet is as good as any western world golf club Sunday brunch. All the water is filtered including water for the ice. The only drawback was the inconsistent wireless internet. This hotel will be completely renovated in the near future. I hope that the ambiance and it's beautiful surroundings will be preserved.

From the moment we arrived at Mena House until the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Everyone was so friendly from the cleaners to the front of house staff. Nothing was too much for anyone.
It is located right next to the Pyramids with stunning views not only from our room, but also from the restaurants and gardens.
Whilst it is a 20 minute taxi ride to down-town Cairo, it was always a welcome pleasure to return back to the hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone...

Room Tip: the Premier Double with Pyramid views is fabulous

This is the location to stay if you want to be right next to the pyramids, have a quiet sleep, and also excellent food. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we have ever enjoyed. The selection of foods will satisfied all tastes. Service is excellent. And of course, the direct view to the pyramids is amazing. We even ate dinner - twice - sitting out on the patio - again enjoying the view. Rooms are nice - get the pyramid view with nice balconies. The pool area is again - excellent. Nice to take swim in a very large pool after a day viewing the sites. We would stay there again. Free - slow wifi - in public areas.

Room Tip: View of the pyramids.

We stayed at the Mena House hotel for 3 nights. During that time we sampled all the amenities of the hotel and were unable to find any fault with it in any way. The food in the restaurants was excellent, the pool looked fantastic, the staff could not do enough for us and the room we had was far better than we expected, including the view of the Pyramids.

The hotel is not cheap - but it is worth every penny.

The only negative I could find was the lack of free wifi in the bedrooms although this is available in the common areas.

I would definitely recommend the Mena House Hotel.

We went for the weekend, superb. Spacious room, overlooking the Great Pyramid . What a view ! One of the seven wonder in your well furnished huge bed AC room. Also you have a view on the Garden, well maintained. Very polite staff, check in in few minute, good food, nice Indian restaurant and very nice outdoor pool. If you are a tourist , this a place for you to stay in Cairo almost at the footstep of the Great Pyramid. It s on the outskirt but worth it.

Room Tip: Room with Pyramid view, ground floor is overlooking garden as well

Stayed at the Mena House Hotel for four nights . Had room overlooking the Pyramids for $180/night ! Everyone was especially nice and highly recommend this Hotel ! The breakfast was included with making reservations through Memphis tours. The breakfast was fantastic and everyone was super nice including the head manager who saw me holding several dishes and offered to help me. Absolutely an ideal location of you want to be next to the pyramids ..
