“Great view of pyramids!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our wedding anniversary and had splendid time. Our room was great and had a view of the pyramids.

The staff was excellent and very helpful. Room service wasn't the best, as they didn't send us eating utensils, napkins & salt/pepper however when we called reception they immediately sent us what we needed.

We would go back as the view was magical and the room was top notch!! It was a nice break from the Cairo hustle.

If you get the chance to stay at this hotel, you should do so. The older parts of the hotel are literally palatial - have a wander and admire the decor. We stayed in the part by the massive pool, which had balconies overlooking the gardens and the Pyramids - quite a welcome to Egypt. Food at breakfast was delicious and service was great.

The hotel was everything you would expect of an Oberoi, the landscaping and grounds were immaculate and the main building a monument. The rooms look a bit tired and the only negative factor was the small 20" ctv in the room. The shower had good pressure and the room itself was quite spacious.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, but just as every where else in Egypt, always expected a huge tip. The breakfast at the hotel was very good with a good spread and the restaurant has stunning views of the great pyramid.
The low occupancy must be weighing down this huge hotel and it was quite evident that the rooms have not been refurbished in a while. The location is excellent, being just a short drive to the pyramids. It was convenient to go to the light and sound show in the evening.

The Mena house is old world elegance at its finest. The property and surrounding gardens are lovely, and the staff outstanding. The swimming pool was the most beautiful I have ever seen.
Treat yourself to a room with a balcony view of the pyramids.
We felt so grateful for this beautiful refuge in the middle of the chaos of Giza.

A grand old hotel that is still up there with the best in Cairo. Location to the Pyramid's is the draw card. The rambling layout is a workout in itself to get around, but this good to stretch the legs. The pool area is great and worth while spending some time at after a hot, dusty trip to the Pyramids.
The main part of the hotel is great to just amble around and get a sense of history. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The meals are great and there is something to suit everybody at the Breakfast Buffet. The only down side of the rooms was the bed!! we are use to sleeping on firm beds but this was like sleeping on the floor, infact the floor might have been softer and more comfortable. Apart from this downside the whole experience was delightful.

Room Tip: Check the bed before accepting the room, or change if too hard.

This hotel and its staff were wondeful. They were very accomodating and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff as well. The rooms were clean and the standard was really nice. We were able to walk around the hotel and visit the stores and sites. We felt safe and enjoyed the experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We had a garden view and enjoyed the pool view. Also the pyramid view is just as nice.

When my travel agent in Singapore planned my trip to Egypt, she insisted that I stay at leat one night at the Mena House even though the rest of the nights were booked at another high end hotel downtown near the now-former Egyptian Museum.

When you see the Mena House, you'll immediately see why. Sure, the location is literally right next to the Great Pryamid--it's as if it's bearing down on the lobby cafe. Imagine sipping a drink in finely appointed space, then have the shadows of the pryamid cascading into the room.

Yes, the rooms are a bit weary, and you might get lost in the maze of hallways, but when do you really expect from a grand ole hotel? The hotel is like a museum itself, and worth some exploration maybe after a long day. This place is very luxurious especially for Egypt as most high end hotels are somewhat cookie cutter. My travel agent was right: the Mena House is an experiene in itself.

Room Tip: Be sure to choose a room in the original wing. The new wing does have nice, modern rooms (so I'...
