The hotel looks like a standard resort hotel that can be found anywhere in the world. It is fairly large with several separate buildings and restaurants. Two main swimming pools and an another one tucked away behind one of the buildings - that area seemed to be closed at the moment.
Even though there were always a lot of people around the pool, the hotel felt somewhat deserted. The golf shop was closed. To enter the SPA you had to use the staff entrance. To enter the gym you had to walk through the deserted golf shop. Swim up pool bar closed etc.
Maybe it is because of less visitors due to the latest revolution, I do not know.
Staff: Most of them extremely friendly and very helpful.
Room: Stayed in the pool building. All rooms have a balcony facing the pool. Ground floor rooms have direct access to the swimming pool but laid mostly in the shadows.
The room itself was ok, the colors did not bother me as some other reviews seems to think. The interior does not stand out compare to any other Hilton chain in US. Bed was comfortable. Apart from that there were a desk with internet cable, sofa, wardrobe with ironing board, mini bar.
Balcony with two chairs and a small table.
Bathroom with bath tub and separate shower.
Cleanliness: Not ok for a hotel claimed to be five star!!! The room was vacuum cleaned only in the middle. Used plates and food dropped on the floor in elevators and corridors could be left for days.
Gym: Small but had what you needed and seemed to be visited by people from the outside. However, no paper or towels available to wipe off yourself or the equipment with.... disgusting.
Restaurants: Tried snack bar at the swimming pool. Served simple food as pizzas, hamburgers, kebab etc. Not specifically tasty but served it purpose.
Ate the lunch buffe in the main restaurant. Can not recommend. Not good at all for such hotel.
Breakfast: Large buffe but not up to western standard. No healthy food at all. A lot of white bread, pastries, cereals for children. The omelette station and the fresh fruit were the only things that appealed to me.
Internet: Outrageous prices and no wifi in room. A very short internet cable provided.
Summary: Hotel not bad but certainly not five star. I would say it is a family three star hotel with amenities that you might find in a five star. The hotel caters for a lot of locals coming for a mini-vacation to enjoy the pool and facilities. A wedding was held every day during my stay.
The grounds are fairly large wich might be good for some, but it is way out of town.
I also want to point out that this is a muslim country. As a single woman I did not felt comfortable enough to lay at the pool in bikini or bathing suite even though it was 35 degrees celsius. I was also the only woman in the gym. With that said I still want to emphasize that I felt safe at all times, you simply must be aware of and adjust to the customs in the country you are visiting.
