Stayed here for 3 nights from 8th March, Staff were lovely room was clean and peaceful, we had a garden view room, if you have a pool view it is noisier but you get a great view of the pyramids, but traffic noise is never ending even through the night. The food was excellent never tasted better we were on half board, the only problem we had was there were a place advertised on the hotel website to eat and when we got there it was no longer in use especially the coffee cafe snack bar. You can get a snack at the bar but it is all served with chips and ends up being a meal, really only wanted a luch time snack. There was a nice italian reastuarant but we just used the buffett in the evening it had hot and cold food. There did'nt seem to be many umberella's at the pool side, plenty of beds, the pool was lovely and clean.
I dont think there is much outside of the hotel but to be truthfull we did'nt venture out on our own as we were warned about being pestered to death so it put us off. We had a guide to take us to the pyramids and they were amazing we even went into the large pyramid but be warned you are bent double and it is uncomfortable I hurt my leg and shoulder but glad I did it although there is not much to see inside. Be warned you will be pestered at pyramids you just have to be firm and be very careful with your money. Another trip was to the museum in Cairo saw all of King Tut's wealth well worth visit. Tipping is very big in Egypt and expected,we were warned, but still not prepared enough. All in all we had an amazing time and will never ever forget it.

We stayed at the Mercure for two nights at the beginning of our tour of Egypt and again at the end. Both times we had great ease checking in and Hana in particular was friendly and helpful. The reception area is beautiful and the restaurants easily located. Both rooms we stayed in were lovely, clean and comfortable. Although the hotel is situated in a high traffic area (do yourself a favor and spend some time on the roof of the hotel and watch the traffic. It's interesting) we did not have any trouble with noise levels from the street. We made use of both the Romeo and Juliet restaurant and room service for dinners and the staff were friendly and the food good. We also had lunch at the bar with its amazing view of the pyramids. All in all we enjoyed our stay and have no complaints. The rooms provided what we needed, the staff were helpful and friendly and we were very comfortable. Thank you to everyone who made our stay enjoyable.

I booked just the night for the 16 March and I enjoyed the hotel and I recommed it.
The room is recent and with sufficient area. From the swiming pool you can see the very well the pyramids since you are near ( not near enough to go on foot).

The lest enjoyable things is that is very far from the airport and city centre, but if you are going to see the pyramds it´s ok. The other thing is that the restaurant is closed until April so don´t forget to have dinner before you go to the hotel.

A large chain hotel with good views of the pyramids from our room and the pool area. There is a huge lobby/lounge area with free wifi (chargeable cable connector in room) and lots of places to sit. There are a few shops to browse/buy souvenirs (scarfs, t-shirts, jewellery, postcards, snacks, etc.) – there was the usual pressure to buy and ‘free gifts’ but all delivered in a friendly and unthreatening way.

The inclusive breakfast buffet was varied and we had lunch at the Italian ‘Romeo and Juliet’ which was … OK. All staff were very friendly, if not super-efficient.

We had a comfortable and decent-sized room, although the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner and the shower was a bit variable – alternating hot and cold presumably depending on the neighbours’ use of hot cold water. We had to ask for towels twice after the wet ones had been removed – the cleaner seemed surprised we wanted more! The air conditioning was a bit noisy to leave on all night.

They took the usual pre-authorisation of my credit card and then charged incidentals to this even though we had swiped and signed off on a different card during check out. So far only 1 charge has been taken.

All in all, not what I would rate as 5 star, but a decent comfortable hotel to which I would return.

Room Tip: Ask for a pyramid view - I never tired of looking out at them.

If you are on a very short trip just to see the Sphinx and Giza pyramids, then this is a good location with a quick cab ride taking you to the site and views from the hotel of the pyramids. But anything longer than a couple of nights and you might find this is too far away from everywhere else to make it worthwhile.
If it really was 5 star luxury on the outskirts of a bustling city, you could justify staying here longer. But for me, it was rather underwhelming as a 5 star experience and compared to that of the US or the far east.
The rooms were very average, those over-looking the pyramids were excessively noisy with the 24hr traffic outside the window, the service was variable and mostly not what is on offer in normal 5 star hotels, and the food was fairly basic. The spa was unwelcoming and being served your drink from a can without a glass and ice is a little unusual for a 5 star!
If I was disappointed by the very average looking hotel entrance, it perhaps was the best introduction to what was inside.
There was nothing wrong with this hotel - it just wasn't the 5 star, birthday special I was expecting.

We were expecting a degree of luxury, given the expensive location , looking towards the Giza pyramids. The uninspiring entrance off a scarily busy Cairo roundabout leads to a beautiful reception area. Reception staff are friendly, but incompetent and easily distracted, instead of dealing with the waiting guests. Rooms are badly cared for, grubby round the edges and with poor air conditioning. The passing traffic never sleeps, and your nights are likely to be disturbed by the non stop hooting of Cairo's noisy traffic. If you choose a Pyramid view room, then it is a glorious sight to draw the curtains to see the last remaining wonder of the ancient world right before you. Bathrooms have limited toiletries and thin, worn towels. The advertised 5* standard is clearly misleading. The gardens at the front of the hotel are small, but pleasant, and the pool is cared for, very deep at one end, and surrounded by terraces furnished with sunbeds. However, this is hardly the spot for relaxation, as the noisy road is constantly busy with huge volumes of hooting traffic.
The usual terms seem to be bed and breakfast, but breakfast is poor, with low quality sliced meats and cheeses, a busy omelette station, and the usual dreary offerings of a chain hotel. We decided it would be a big mistake to chose to dine at the hotel, and it is possible to find small local restaurants that offer Egyptian specialities nearby. A branch of popular Felfela is nearby, but currently only offers take-away,and there are two local restaurants close by that offer decent menus to order, showing customers the meats or fish on offer before you chose what you would like them to cook.
If you are an independent traveller, the hotel has a taxi company located in the reception area, with fixed prices for a range of tours and trips. For a personally tailored tour, then you can pay for car and driver by the hour, at a cost of 50 Egyptian pounds an hour. A driver named Tito drove us for 2days,visiting all the sites on our wish list with care, consideration and skill in the busy traffic, waiting patiently as we explored. , and advising caution where needed.

Room Tip: Pyramid views are very noisy.
